I really could not see studge going back to Chelsea, i don't think we would sell and i would like to think he understands the confidence we have shown in him to play him in his preferred and best position rather than sitting him on the bench or playing him out wide to accommodate an expensive import. He is playing the best football of his career with us, why would he want to leave. Suarez is a different matter, his mind must be like a fireworks display. After his actions in the summer, which unlike most i have not quite got over, anything is possible. I think the main thing is the teams who could now afford him and that we would sell too is a very small pot. Probably only PSG, Madrid and Barca. however these teams are already bursting with talent and may not be happy with the baggage that comes with luis. On top of that, the team is doing well and progressing, we are in with a shot of the title and CL next year, we are building from a solid base rather than throwing money about like tissue paper or treading water hoping to balance the books.
Totally unpredictable. FSG have shown they do not want to sell him. We should have Champions League next year. He is on a big money contract now. That said if Real or Barcelona come sniffing it could unsettle him. Enough to hand in a transfer? Maybe. I'd say we have 80% chance keeping him until next year. After that? Who knows. Top 4 is going to be crowded again next year. You can bet United will spend Mega millions over the summer to get back. Spurs always seem to have endless cash too. So at least two clubs below us will probably net spend £50 million more on players over summer than we will. Keeping top 4 could still be a challenge.
As for Sturridge. He's not famous enough for Real or Barcelona to pursue him. Somehow he has remained under the radar. We won't sell him to Chelsea and he wouldn't want to go. I think he could be ours for many years.
this is a hard question. 1. john henry seems well hard and won't just let them go. 2. suarez will be like 29 in 2 years time so if he doesn't go in the summer he may well not. 3. sturridge is enjoying building his rep... however... i think he'd jump. If we achieve and the maintain form i think 2 years but it is i agree hugely unpredictable.
Let's assume that Sturridge won't go abroad given the % of English players that actually do. That means there are probably historically 4 teams that he could go to in England being City, Chelsea, Arsenal or United. Now he's been at Chelsea who underused him and can't see hi ever wanting to go back there. Arsenal? Can't see it happening given they don't like spending big money. United? We'd never sell to them and at the moment would be a backwards step. That leaves City... now he's been there before and moved on because he wasn't getting much playing time but of all the teams I could see him possibly wanting to go back there. They'd obv have to want him, but he's earn big money and go back to the club where he started his career while also challenging in every competition. Suarez? Can only see him leaving for Madrid/Barca/Bayern or maybe when he's 32/33 going to PSG for one big pay cheque. At the moment though if we are challenging for the top 4 on a consistent basis and the odd title challenge with some cups thrown in, I think he'll be happy to stay with us.
I agree with this. I still think Suarez could go this summer but will need one of the Spanish clubs to cough up.
Europe's top 5 scorers Suares 24 goals Ronaldo 23 goals Ibrahimovic 22 goals Costa 21 goals Sturridge 18 goals
In terms of Goals per minutes: http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/l...the-european-minutes-per-goal-chart-graphic/? Top 5 Strikers in Europe are: 1. Suarez 2. Sturridge 3. Messi 4. Ronaldo 5. Costa 6. Ibrahmovic Wow look at the strikers from 3rd to 6th place!
Good article in there Telegraph by Chris Bascombe. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ue-rivals-after-six-goal-show-at-Cardiff.html
Thought Messi would be up there. He's missed so much of the season injured but still has like 20 odd league goals! Nice to have 2 in form strikers. Long may it continue.
A good point made in that article about the moaning about having 2 players off the field for our third. I was thinking at the time why do you need treatment when the ball has just hit you in the face surely you have to point the fingers at the players and say they should of been thinking do I really need treatment as we have to defend a corner.
They never put men on the posts when they had 11 on the pitch so what difference did it make? And Skrtel scored the first when surrounded by 5 opponents so they just aren't good enough anyway
The rules are there in part because players will play act to waste time by feigning injury. If players 'manned up' (yeah, banned phrase now) and stop being such pathetic wimps, I'm sure we'd have fewer problems. Ref made the right call; if you're injured, get off the pitch for treatment. If you're fine, stop moaning and play on. They chose to be injured by the big nasty ball.
Do find it funny about the complaining at that. The 2 players seemed perfectly fine after we scored and they came back on the pitch... I guess the magic water sponge still has mystical powers of curing all injuries within 10 seconds
That article reminds me of something. Who on Here ridiculed Brendan when he said he'd look to add twenty more goals to the tally this year ....? Come on now, own up and take a bow!
