I hope it's not keyhole surgery, I've just been on a tour of SJP and sneaked a look in the surgeon's bag.

100% agree mate - I broke my leg when I was 14 and it took me 8 months to recover to play again

I tore my groin muscle (in half) when I was 20 and it took over 2 years to completely recover!! Last night was the first time since then that I have been able to run further than 10 miles.

It just seems so risky to have players like this who pass medicals but then break down with an injury so shortly after.

Ben Arfur is a completely different story although he was still signed permanently whilst recovering and no-one knows how he will be once it heals properly and if he'll be the same player - too risky!!

At least with ba it's a "pay as you play" deal (or so I believe)

Not quite, it's just a low basic wage with a big playing bonus.

I find it a bit frustrating that both of our clubs seem to have to take risks with players with suspect injury records... been said elsewhere but for a variety of reasons the N.E. doesn't seem that attractive a destination for a lot of players... and certainly not for their WaGs.

Their may be a suspician that Ashley especially is trying to do things on the cheap but I don't believe that's the case with Short and yet it seems like every week at least a couple of players on each team are struggling with injuries.

To be fair both clubs have had injury problems for years along time before Mike Ashley turned up at Newcastle and even Niall Quinn came back to Sunderland. Seem to remember Owen and Dyer inparticular having injury problems at Newcastle even going back to 2005.
