You're right, of course but it's not about being right in football. Ashley Cole shot a colleague with an air rifle and got a fine whilst a youth player let off a smoke bomb and got fired. If the youth player was the one with the air rifle and Cole set off a smoke bomb the same person still gets sacked.
Maybe as fans we're guilty of taking his side because we think he's a character but as much as I like Sherwood he hasn't got the ability to start shoving his weight around but Sandro does. Sandro is in the wrong for being unprofessional but is he in the wrong for feeling he should play? Yes and no really, he should respect the managers decision but on the other hand he's clearly one of our best players.
That's all if you take the Tweets as the real problem here. I don't, not for a minute. Sandro hasn't played for a month now and in his last game Sherwood actually praised him for doing a good job as a centre back. Sherwood is totally wrong if he feels Bentaleb, Dembele, Chadli and Paulinho are all better centre midfielders than him, it's not even a matter of opinion. Sandro also has the opportunity of representing his country at a home World Cup this summer, that's a one off opportunity and his already slim hopes are being laid to rest by his manager not even finding a place for him on the bench.
I'd happily see Sherwood sacked tomorrow if it stopped him upsetting any more of our best players. What's next, Eriksen getting dropped so Obika can get some minutes? Holtby got away very lucky, he gets to play regular football under a decent manager before returning for when we decide get a manager instead of Sideshow Sherwood.
I've praised Sherwood for how he's handled the speculation around his job but now he's clearly throwing his weight around whilst he still can. I can't think of any other explanation for it, it's certainly not a football decision.
