What ER doesn't know is that BP started pumping oil from a new field last Novemeber. The Clair ridge field, WEST of Shetland. 120 000 barrels a day, 10% of the UK's oil production once it's fully operational.

4.5 billion quid of investment to make that happen. So much for the oil companies not wanting to invest eh!

So, the companies who pump this oil just give the profits to the Exchequer!!

That's not how it works Baz. The oil companies pay tax and that's what goes to the exchequer. You being a high powered auntypranoor should know that.

Well Norway managed to get rid of all their food banks cos they have oil even though you think oil revenue is not worth bothering about.

 

Claire Ridge started oil production in November 2018. They have known about the deposits for decades but could only tap them due to modern technology and massive investment. Investment that you said isn't happening.

If you think those oil fields off the West coast won't be tapped you're dafter than dog ****.
