I'd like to see him stay, but the body language as he left the field seemed to be that he was taking his last look in a B&W top.

All I foresee here is months of "well, we lost our captain and when that happens - and we tried to prevent it, believe me - it's always difficult to regroup. But January is approaching and we'll be looking to add a center back 110% to help take us out of the relegation zone....."

Pardew has previously stated that it's impossible to keep an unhappy player at a club. That statement in itself is one which could spark a whole new debate. However, the question l ask myself is why is Colo unhappy. Personal issues have been cited, which supposedly necessitated a move back to Argentina.
The way l view it is like this, crisis and unexpected events can hit anyone out of the blue and there are times and circumstances that call for a compassionate and humanitarian response. Now Colo asks to leave, the club say no, that leads me to surmise that whatever reasons were put to the club for this sudden need to leave, did not meet with much of a sympathetic ear. If tragedy had struck his family, sick wife or child for example, surely the club would have responded differently, let him go and issued a statement explaining why. The club took a stance, which suggests that his reasons were either seen as spurious or some kind of self inflicted woe.
That was back in January, months ago, Colo is still here and little is being said about how things stand, except in the vase of San Lorenzo who are back in the frame unsettling the club, the player and the fans again. NUFC need to take a grip of this situation and put a stop to it ASAP.

It just needs bottomed out quickly. We need to know by mid June what is happening and an announcement made. That leaves time to get the new man in. Preferably a leader type who can organise the defence and perhaps take over the captaincy of the side. We don't have a single candidate for captain currently. Cabaye, Saylor, Krul, Mbiwa etc are not really leaders or have at least shown very little capacity to be so far.
