Just watched the lowlights on Youtube - Is it me, or was our defending lazy and lacklustre? We appeared to be content to let them have possession. Sometimes it looks as if our defenders are not co-ordinated. For that second goal their lad was able to take a touch to get the ball under control completely unchallenged, before vollying it into the net - we NEVER seem to have that amount of time on the ball. Fielding would appear to have kept their score down a couple of times yet again with some good saves - but he was put in dangerous positions unnecessarily in my book - one incident the right-back (was it Williams?) dithered like a 40+-year-old pisshead playing in a Sunday morning match after a heavy night and ended up (unsurprisingly) getting robbed. It's very worrying. Ok I only saw what is on Youtube, so it may not have told the whole story. The 'penalty' incident wasn't shown so I can't comment - but it doesn't matter anyway - rightly or wrongly it wasnt given.
I am confused by this.. I admit I haven't seen any game highlights etc but I am reading reports that we played really well, Brighton fans saying we will be fine and best team at theirs this season etc? I know we are making a few costly errors and we need points as soon as, but I don't feel the same doom and gloom as I did about the SOD team, I still feel confident we'll be ok.
Possibly true - like I said, I only saw what is posted on youtube so it may not tell the whole story....
But isn't it just repeating the same story of our season so far game after game, bar possibly the Reading match where we were never at the races ? Rearrange the following in an order to suit We played well, but got nothing from the game We were very unlucky not to win They took their chances, we weren't ruthless enough They had 2 opportunities all game, both from set pieces, and scored from them both We'll be fine We need to wise up 2 mistakes cost us Our league position is false There's no need to panic etc etc Are we still going to be saying this sort of thing, and using the same excuses after 40 games when it may already be too late to save ourselves ? Fact is, our record this season is one win every 6 games. That is relegation form, sorry but it is. I don't want to be a doom and gloom merchant, but variations of the same rhetoric being repeated after virtually every game became really boring a few weeks ago.
Definitely agree but I think our problems are more fixable than many other teams'. We are fine going forward and it's not as if we're playing bad football. It's just our defensive woes which imo are much easier to work on than a complete lack of goals (which would be an alternative and is most likely happening elsewhere).
I was at Brighton and we looked good in patches in the first half but were pinned back for a good 15 mins leading to HT. I was left wondering how the hell we were still ahead by the time it finished. Flint looked bamboozled by Baldock and was all over the place in the second half - the equaliser was always coming. At 1-1 we came back into it. Despite being right behind the goal I didn't see the 'penalty' clearly as someone stood up in front just before it happened. Kodjia looked lively all game and I couldn't figure out why his 'goal' was disallowed as it was a backpass but who understands that rule anyway these days? I was sure he would bury the one-on-one as he seemed to find those easy in the Angers YouTube clips!! Wilbs had a free header to put us in the lead and it was déjà vu from Forest when he headed straight at the goalie. Apart from that Fielding's distribution was worrying and tbh I did think we looked like conceding at any time. Freeman had a good game. On balance we deserved a point but no more. Unless we sort out our defending soon I think we will stay in the relegation scrap as we give goals away far too easily.
The rules I believe changed regarding the off side rule, which now includes even if it was played in by the opposition if you're in the offside position it's offside regardless who passed the ball.
