Plus assurances of other top signings and a strong belief of turning this current situation round and an optermistic outlook.
1: Previous connection with Sparky. 2: PSG are not after him. PSG never shown interest in him, it was Samba that mentioned THEM in an interview, and that he would like to return home, never said when though. 3: Not sure Spurs are after him either judging by Harry Redknapp during the weekend. Could of course be all smoke and mirrors. 4: There is bound to have been some sort of contact with his agent between now and when this rumour first appeared (about a month ago). And if the club manages to sell the club to his advisors the way the swayed Sparky then I know we're in with a good chance. 5: Can't see Mark Hughes joining without knowing who he will get hold of in advance, for me, a lot of groundwork was probably done prior to him signing his contract with us. This was his "ace in the sleeve", making TF and co desperate to get hold of him. Not bad piece of fantasy? Just trying to stay in the positive corner.
Would Blackburn be happy about selling him to a fellow struggler??!! Just trying to exhaust all my reservations before running around my garden with an azalea on my head, to the tune of " I love Blackburn in the springtime".....
Plus point even if he goes to Spurs, it makes Blackburn weaker. Negative I know because I feel for their fans, but its dog eat dog at the moment and we don't want to end up in a tin of Pedigree Chum.
In his negotiations with QPR management, Hughes had to buy into the Fernandes/Mittal vision of future QPR. Our owners are not men of straw, and Hughes was convinced because he knew he was not getting bullshit from the owners. The Mittals are not second hand car salesmen like the Goons. Samba knows, admires and I should think trusts Hughes - Hughes will try to sell him the vision that persuaded him to become manager Plus Samba will be first choice for every game and get very well paid. It's a challenge but the substance of our owners and the record of our new manager may just swing it...
I'm sure Blackburn won't want him to leave, the problem for them is mr bank manager has them by the short and curlys.
This would be a huge coup if we signed Samba ahead of bigger teams. Still remember him making One size look small. Man City are interested as well, hopefully Samba is more interested in playing football than lining his pockets.
Probably reading far too much into what Samba said but bench warming at Spurs, PSG etc would not be a challenge whereas helping the Mighty Hoops escape relegation - what greater, and more worthy, challenge is that?!
we are also forgetting that the Venkys may just want to asset strip Blackburn........so far they have made life difficult for Kean. Howiett does not seem that interested in staying so maybe things behind the scenes are worse and we may yet get a decent defender in.
If and this is a big IF we can get him, then I am sure we will be able to get another 2 or 3 in aswell. Ever the Optomist.......in a glass half full type of way
If we are building for the future Samba's your man. Listening to Ginger Bollox Durham on the way home tonight he said Gareth Ainsworth reckons the owners are ready to break the bank to get us into the top six in three years and Hughes would be selling the dream. Samba would be the centrepiece of team building and a guaranteed starter every game. None of the others could offer him that...
Good stuff! Get on the phone to him. How could he refuse with a Churchillian (?) appeal like that? (Apart from the fact that he's French and probably never heard of Churchill, or the mighty hoops). Come to think of it, Isn't South Kensington supposed to be the epicentre of London the 6th biggest French speaking city in the world? Another reason to choose us over Spurs..
