I don't know exactly, but maybe something on the lines of, "Yes there has been contact by the FA"....or "No there has not" I'm sure reporters would have been in contact with the Club since theses rumours began and I do respect that there has to be a certain protocol in place. I also appreciate that the Club aren't obliged to reveal anything yet, but my point is, a Club spokesman would have quashed any such rumour by now (to appease the fans at least) if they were not true, I would have thought Bri.
What if the club isn't in the position to quash a rumor? Likelyhood is the club doesn't know what's happening yet either, making statements in that position would be a carcrash. In fact. I bet Big Sam doesn't know what's happening yet. How can we make a statement if there's nothing to make a statement about. Statements should contain facts, not more speculative information. The club could come out and say there's been no approach and get the call tomorrow, we'll have wasted resources telling the world jack ****. And if there has been contact, why would we show our hand? Give the world a big heads up that we're looking for a new manager and potentially up our costs. As far as I'm concerned fans insecurities shouldn't be a priority. The club should be keeping sensitive information to itself as long as possible to give themselves the best chance of getting the best out of the situation. **** the fans basically. What's right for the club comes first for me. We'll find out in due course. In my opinion anyway.
I would agree with everything you say mate, if it was May, but it isn't. I suppose my main concern is, (and I know this is all hypothetical) the time we are left with to replace him, if he leaves us mid to late July. Anyhow, this is my own opinion, based on Clubs / players generally quashing rumours almost immediately to prevent unrest. But, what do I know ?
The FA quite simply HAVE to meet what few English PL managers there are early on on the process. Its just a simple matter of courtesy and expediency. They can't be left in a position to say they didn't even bother speaking to any potential English managers. They'd be slaughtered in the press for it. Any informal discussions with Sam just aren't worth anyone getting their knickers in a twist about it. So, breathe..... in......and.....out. And relax.
Sunderland are yet to receive ANY approach from the Football Association to speak with Sam Allardyce over the England vacancy, the Echo understands. And despite reports to the contrary, Allardyce is NOT thought to have a break clause in his contract to allow him to leave the Stadium of Light. Allardyce is the favourite with the majority of bookmakers to succeed departed England boss Roy Hodgson after public support from a series of high-profile football figures, including Sir Alex Ferguson and ex-FA chairman David Bernstein. Speculation today claimed that Allardyce had already held provisional talks with the FA and there is a clause in his Sunderland deal which would allow him to take the England job. However, it is understood that Sunderland are yet to have any contact with the FA over permission to hold formal talks with Allardyce, while he is tied down to another 12 months at the Stadium of Light. Allardyce has previously made no secret of his desire to take charge of his country after missing out on the job to Steve McClaren in 2006. But at this stage, the FA appear to be taking soundings over possible candidates, with various reports that they will hold discussions with ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and want to speak with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The FA trio of technical director Dan Ashworth, chief executive Martin Glenn and vice-chairman David Gill are due to spend the next fortnight considering a successor to Hodgson, before reporting on their findings. But Sunderland will be desperate to tie Allardyce down to his role at the Stadium of Light after keeping Sunderland in the Premier League last season. Allardyce only has a year remaining on his Black Cats deal, but as the Echo reported earlier this week, extending that contract has been on the club’s agenda for several weeks - prior to Hodgson’s resignation Read more: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...lardyce-england-talks-1-8002759#ixzz4DjfZAVUu Hope this is true.
Just a differance of opinion. No biggie Can't do anything about the timing fella whether we make a statement of not. Regardless of timing I think we should be keeping our cards close to our chest. Especially if the only thing to report is uncertainty. It means every club and agent knowing there's uncertainty. Gives themselves the chance to brace themselves for offers and gives themselves extra time to prepare for taking their piece of the pie. Meanwhile, players won't touch us because we've publicly admitted we don't know what the **** is going to happen. Being kept in the dark is a small price to keep our laundry washed in private for me.
Any legitimate sources? According to Facebook I once slept with Jo (blonde lass) from S Club 7 however that definitely isn't true!!
Klinsmann ? The 51-year-old former Germany boss has emerged as the favourite to succeed Roy Hodgson, who quit after England crashed out of Euro 2016 following their humiliating defeat by Iceland. Starsport understands though that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce, is NOT under serious consideration as the FA board in charge of appointing the new boss does not like his brand of football. German squad manager Oliver Bierhoff revealed the FA have already approached current USA boss Klinsmann. “I think he is in discussions with England,” said Bierhoff, who played alongside Klinsmann in the Germany team that won Euro 96 and was his assistant during his stint as Germany boss from 2004-2006. “He would be a good fit. We started in 2004 together and he’s not always, how can I say, nice to handle because he wants to change things. “But he brings motivation. He has the courage to make difficult decisions and perhaps you need something like this.” Former Spurs striker Klinsmann appointed Bierhoff when he took charge of Germany with current boss Joachim Low as his No.2. He fits the FA’s profile for Hodgson’s successor perfectly as a foreign coach with experience of the Premier League following his two spells at Spurs. He also speaks English fluently. Klinsmann is contracted to the US until the World Cup in Russia in 2018 but has fallen out with US Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati. The pair are said not to be even speaking despite Klinsmann steering his side to the semi-finals of the Copa America last month, where they lost to runners-up Argentina. One of their arguments has been over the refusal to allow Klinsmann - who earns £2.5m-a-year - to employ a team manager, and it appears both sides would be happy to part company. Yesterday Klinsmann appeared to be angling for a move. “If you look at the FA in England, it’s more than 100 years old and they already have their infrastructure, scouting, coaches’ education, national training centre, and the pyramid is connected,” said California-based Klinsmann. “There’s relatively little infrastructure work to do in England because it’s all there. “The foundation in the United States is still fragile and disconnected compared to other countries. “The youth leagues do their own thing, the professional system is not really connected to the amateur system, and that’s not really connected to the college system. “So there are holes in the system, like in a Swiss cheese, and there’s a loss of quality.” ------------- The Plot thickens ?!?!?
Will the club get compensated if Sam leaves ?, or could we get Roy hodgson and the F A pay his wages ? he is still an excellent manager to me. I would like Klinsman but may not leave the USA job for us, but not John carver or Steve McLaren please !
Depends what Sam Allardyce has in his contract. If he has a release clause then I don't believe you will be compensated. I'm starting to think it's gonna be a foreigner though, hopefully not Klinsmann.
Sam won't get the job Monty. Agree on Klinnsman though. He's my choice. And I think it'll be a no brainer if he's offered it. The US or us. I bet he'd love the challenge!!
