They turned down 6 offers for him before giving in..

' "We rejected six offers from them," said City chief executive John Pelling.

"We entered this transfer window with the intention of keeping Sam, however, Brighton's persistence has finally seen them come up with an offer which suited both the club and Sam." ...

Yes, I quite agree with you- I said the other day, if there was a contract offer, why wouldn't he sign it and if there wasn't one on offer, why not- He would have had more value with more time on his contract but with only 1 year, the danger was that he would go for free next year-

Once Agard signed, I couldn't see the justification in keeping 2 x 20+ forwards as well as Wilbraham and JET, it didn't add up and my suspicions were that he would be off-

I can only wish him well. The offer of championship football with a club that only just missed out on the play offs last year, new stadium and probably better money, well you cant really expect loyalty above that-Good luck Sam and thanks for what you have given.

I do find it a little cynical if I'm honest with regards the timing.

Season tickets sales stop at 5pm -- Baldock gone by 7pm..

Really all the fuss,Sam struggled in the championship for us,then struggled last season until the second half of the season.

With Agard arriving i think he will be better than Baldock long term.

I reckon there will another sting in the tail, hopefully city got good money for Baldock, and i hope SC has someone else lined up to come in.

We best have got 2.5million for him other wise I'll be pissed off.
Was with out a shadow of a doubt the best player last year and I wish him the best for his service to the club.

The fans were spun a yarn as per usual by the club........must think we were born yesterday.
You could tell by SC's eyes he was bullshitting.

I believe we were stuffed, yet gain, on this one and it just goes to show all you need to do is tell the people what they want to hear, even if it is far from the truth.

When SC stated that there might be a sting in the tail just recently I think the obvious was going to happen no matter what had been said by both parties in the recent past. There it is and now we move on and see what happens on the weekend, but we may endure our first loss of the season, and then we will see how good our boss is at getting things right. A downer has been brought in to the mix and it will be interesting to see where JET sit's in the pecking order now that Sam has left for pastures new and I don't think he is capable, or willing, to step up and take the goal scoring reins by the throat.

    Why is anyone surprised ?

As soon as rumours started about Baldock and then Agard it was a done deal. You cant easily stop a player who wants to leave

Good luck to Sam at BHA. Over to the Manager and the board to find an adequate replacement and strengthen the team in the obvious areas.

I do tend to think that Agard was the replacement- It he is, at least we had the good sense to buy before we sold-

Can't complain personally at 1.5-2m. He was out of contract at the end of the year, and we're still League One, that money is not to be sniffed at. We are already very gifted up front, and with that money we can get another backup striker and that keeper we desperately need. In terms of squad building it makes sense imo.
