The Sun world cup dream team rankings place him currently as the 96th 'best' player at the world cup... or 30th 'best' defender.

Top 10 defenders in order according to the Sun:
    Vertonghen
    Varane
    Rojo
    Marquez
    Zapata
    Armero
    Debuchy
    Hummels
    Yepes
    Zuniga

The Sun is, of course, the most reliable source of footballing knowledge.

EDIT. And Koscielny is 11th ;)

The English commentators are absolutely clueless when they talk about Sakho. As mentioned, Martin Keown has a serious issue with Sakho and his bias is showing through.

Sakho and Varane are already one of the best partnerships in world football - they'll only get better.

It's a shame that Rodgers doesn't rate Sakho (from what I've heard)

Rodgers dropped Agger, the vice captain, for Sakho.

Keown's issue with him, is that he thinks he's mince.

Good job Didier Deschamps doesn't read the Sun or he might be tempted to play Kos. I'm guessing he remembers what happened when Sakho had to go off against Switzerland though...

Also Ricardo Rodriguez isn't on that list so it's completely irrelevant.

The opinions of Liverpool fans on centre backs have forever been tarnished by a few members insistence last year that Kolo Toure was the best centre back at Arsenal or Liverpool <yikes>

Deschamps also thinks Debuchy is better than Sagna.

Why would I stand up for Sagna if he quite clearly wasn't the better player, he doesn't play for us anymore? The fact you think you think Debuchy is better just sends your footballing credibility down the plughole.

Well look at the stats, Debuchy was in the whoscored european team of the year, averaged 3.3 tackles per match, 2.4 interceptions and 4.8 clearances. He finished the season with 1 goal and 3 assists and averaged 0.8 key passes per match, not bad for a full back.

Sagna on the other hand managed 1.7 tacks, 1.5 interceptions, 5 clearances, 1 goal, 2 assists and 0.6 key passes. I imagine you didn't see much of him last season and just assumed he was ****e because he plays for Newcastle.
