If that was KWP jumping into Lloris there is no way they even complain about it . Let alone dedicate significant time to it
Just seen this comment on the Spurs forum: "Hojbjerg is horribly overrated IMHO. Totally limited in his play. We need far more that position." Got plenty of likes too.
They’re not wrong. He’s very good at what he does and is fine for a team like Saints, but a team at the top end of the league should want more from a CM. I thought Winks was pretty good today, showed a decent range of passing, bit slow on the ball a couple of times. Not sure if that was due to a lack of options from team mates or him not seeing them fast enough
We were lucky in so much as those things don’t normally go our way and today they did. The ‘foul’ on FF was soft af but that is consistent with most of the ‘fouls’ that get given on goalkeepers. They’re over protected, and I don’t agree with it, but at least that’s consistent. The offside was tight, was definitely VAR offside last season but this season could have easily stood. It was still offside though so it’s not like a wrong decision just one that isn’t being applied consistently. It just seems to depend on who is VAR and how they’re feeling on the day. Maybe because the ref was so badly against us first half that’s why that one went in our favour. Tbh the main way in which we were lucky is because Spurs didn’t have their shooting boots on and just kept hitting it straight at FF. We were committed and worked hard but we still didn’t manage the second half well. Sure there were times we had to just boot it away, but too many times we panic cleared it when we could have passed it out and tried to keep possession. We just invited them back onto us. Obviously delighted we got the point, and proud of the effort, passion and commitment from our players but the reason we got the point IMO is mainly because Spurs left their shooting boots at home.
I have never "liked" so many posts in a single thread....in Mexico at the moment, winding up as many other fans as possible...love the saints, we have many lows but the occasional highs are all the sweeter. Well done Longy and Fraser, don't know why I love them but somehow their grinding efforts epitomise the Saints for me!
Hmm, not really - Taylor ruled out a perfectly good Spurs goal yesterday. Forster was never fouled in a million years.
Totally agree, Tino is great breaking forward but very shaky in defence, he is a major part of our defensive issues despite all the hype. That’s why I would love to see him moved forward one place into wide right midfield
As said before VAR ruled out the Kane goal, the FF own goal was a stunning decision but virtually every time a Spurs player threw himself to the ground he gave a free kick. Ali spent more time on the ground than he did running. Poor biased refereeing only encourages the big teams to cheat even more and then just gets the other team niggled because of the biase and more likely that we get players sent off as a result
It was an amazing purchase as he was really our third choice midfielder behind JWP and Romeu, my Spurs mate is not a fan to put it politely, he thinks they should have bought JWP but as I said he wasn’t in his last year of contract and being sold at a bargain price
I quote "The referees do their best to help out the big six beat us no hopers" If that was true Taylor would have allowed the goal. He just had a terrible game yesterday - both teams can feel aggrieved.
I agree that he was just terrible rather than biased but think they've probably more right to be aggrieved than us as a few inconsistent fouls/bookings doesn't equate to two wrongly disallowed goals. I'd have loved him to carry on play at the end and us score. They'd have been more upset
Yep. My view too. The only good thing about his display yesterday was that he couldn't be accused of bias towards the bigger team. He's normally a good referee IMO so I was cringing watching that. You come to expect performances like that from referees like Hooper but not Taylor. According to UEFA he's our number 1 referee. He gets bigger games than Oliver in Europe.
