We’re still getting used to stuff and working things out. It takes time. Look at Ipswich, who are meant to be walking the league. Think we take control second half and win this. Stewart on at half time for me.
Tight relatively scrappy affair as predicted which has gone back and forth a bit in terms of who's looked better. Would say they've definitely had the better of play overall but we've made the better chances. We've been a bit slack on the ball in midfield and lost the ball cheaply which will need to stop. Similar to Wrexham in that I don't think they'll be able to keep the pace up all game so subs could be key. I'd like Stewart on sooner rather than later.
Don’t worry he’ll bring on all the strikers at some point, or maybe he’ll only do that if we are losing
One thing I will say, is there's no point hoofing or crossing the ball up top when your focal striker is Adam ****ing Armstrong, just an easy way to lose the ball every time.
I've got Blackmore and Tessem on my stream - they're actually being quite fair (if anything a bit negative towards Saints).
This system is not as effective as i'd like, I think we could do better with four at the back and a focal point in attack.
Stoke have edged it, but we've been a close second. Plus it hasn't felt like Stoke would score, the defence looks comfortable. Fernandes looks to be trying to do more than he should, and that has been my biggest concern so far - a mistake giving Stoke their goal.
I have to use the Stoke feed on saintsplayer unfortunately….every foul Stoke do is a fair challenge apparently
Bit of minor agro in the chapel which we could have done without just before the skates really. Started with a Stoke fan lobbing something which hit what looked like a teenager and what I assume was their parent completely losing the head. Stoke have always been a scummy bunch. Also seemed to be an issue between two Saints fans. Not good at all.
Confident we can still win this. Feels like one of those games where the first goal is absolutely crucial.
Stoke are playing well and are very athletic. Some of our players need to man up and realise that the refs in this league allow some contact, even if they aren’t consistent in how they react to it. We seemed to be getting on top towards the end of the half but need to start quickly in the second half. The first shot against the post was quality. How often have we seen players lash at the ball and miskick it into touch? Unlucky with the follow up on his weaker foot. Reading Still’s body language I would think he is pissed off with how long johansson is taking over goal kicks.
