It's sad that none of the youngsters that have come through the academy, have made the grade. It's also a shame that we have a good one gathering splinters elsewhere. There is no doubt, it is another missing piece of a promising jigsaw, a centre forward is another. Just another of my opinions, Baz is disliked for other reasons apart from being a bit hopeless, his previous skate connection, and ethnicity to mention a few. Not a lot can be done at the moment, but it should be a priority in the next Transfer Window to address the matter.
I don’t think he’s awful, but I don’t think he’s good either. I think it’s generally a perspective thing, we’ve had some really good keepers over the years so our expectations are higher. When on loan at Pompey for example, their fans thought he was great (I can’t say I know them all, but the ones I work(ed) with) and were complimentary. We obviously signed him as our inspired leaders wanted us to play like city, so bought a keeper that is good with his feet.
Can guarantee you most fans don't rate him because he's been pretty crap for us. Nothing to do with his ethnicity, or skate connection.
I blame Ian! and for what it’s worth; I liked IT’s injection (don’t agree) but loved the bite back better. No probs with mods allowing & @tomw24 did stop at the right point. They have a thankless task. Love this site
Agreed. You've only got to look at the stick the likes of Stephens, Smallbone & Dibling got last season vs the likes of ABK.
I think you raise a fair point about us having decent keepers in the past which probably influences perception. I'd say you're probably right that that subconsciously impacts my judgement of him to some extent. But I also compare him to other keepers we come up against and yesterday was notable for being the first time in an age that I thought the opposition keeper was worse.
Always amazes me how people manage to find a way to make something so obviously nothing to do with race or ethnicity about race or ethnicity.
Oh yeah, Wednesdays keeper had a bad day. Although I felt sorry for both keepers, as both defences were pedestrian and poor. I can’t wait to have Romeu back, other than the 3 points he was my biggest positive yesterday
I disagree and think that signing a good, reliable GK is a must in January as well as a goalscoring, preferably tall forward.
Careful, you’ll be banned soon for pointing out anything like this. Yet WUMs like Ian will be allowed to spill their far left / anti-Britain bile.
I think a manager is the most important followed by a fit striker. I would also like us to get rid of the toxicity within the club. Be it the behind the scenes management or the players.
An experienced (preferably in the Championship) manager is a given. I really hope that the club don't fall into the same trap of appointing a caretaker from within permanently as it has never worked out well from Whispering Dave to Selles. I posted the other day that the combined average win % of those types is 12.5. I have even more reservations about Eckert than I had about Still.
Yep, THB to Armstrong. His long passes were really effective during the promotion season, so it’s good to see him trying them again.
I thought it was the same last year TBH we scored so few goals last year, its difficult to remember Shame there aren't stats for it
Part of the issue is the ghost of Ramsdale, which has clearly stopped us doing the sensible thing and going out and buying a proper keeper.
