We were prime Barcelona against Newcastle in comparison to today, it did see a bit of a return to sideways and backwards but we could still have had 4-5 goals except for some fine margins (two crossbars, two excellent saves). Today was Pellegrino tier.
FFS. This was probably my last ever Saints game live, as we are moving from Canada down to New Zealand soon. What a s**t game to end it on.
I agree it was worse today, we couldn't even pass the ball backwards properly but what I meant was the fans really wanted the win against Newcastle and they failed miserably.
I completely agree we need to give smallbone time as he clearly has talent. My main issue was watching him playing as a striker when he clearly is not comfortable in that position. Multiple times on the right in the first 20 minutes we were running down the right and he did not make the run forward but ran back to get the ball like a midfielder (his natural position) which did not work at all against a team happy to have everyone in defence when out of position. The first goal was comical but the fact Ralph did not rectify this immediately when this happened multiple times gave us no attacking outlet down the right or even a reprieve from defence. Every time we tried it broke down and they are immediately on the counter. As a result the second goal happened and it was too late. Watford sat back and rode their luck.
Any midweek game I'm up at 4am to 6am. New Zealand is 5+ hours ahead of me, so that's a cushty 9am kick off for you.
Between 6th place and 16th place it really is fine margins and everyone beats everyone. I think Ralph pushed the panic button too soon after just two losses. Maybe change things after four or five losses on the trot, but not just two, particularly as we were playing so well beforehand. Che up front by himself was weird, considering Ralph almost always plays two up top, even at Anfield and the Etihad. Also, Redmond being behind Elyounoussi and Smallbone is a real head-scratcher.
Thanks Che. My live comment was actually meant to mean in person at St Mary's. Hopefully I will get one last game in at some point, when we get over to say our goodbyes.
Highly unlikely. We are off to Nashville in April, and Seattle in August. I don't get paid any vacation pay either. But the way Saints have been playing lately, I can see them turning over Man C.Afterall it's the Southampton way! Lol
I have heard Memphis isn't exactly the safest place. New Orleans is a great place to go, they have an amazing WW2 museum there. The food is excellent too.
