I was really looking forward to this game but constant tales of our players going has taken the edge of off it for me.
Can't recall the game, but we scored from a short corner since then; I recall taking the piss out of LTL because he loves a short corner.
One of my pet hates is short corners, can't stand them!! Might change my mind on that though looking at 2 goals we've conceded in our 2 league games so far! Plus I can only think of one goal last season from a corner (Toby away to Palace)
If you look at this season, in the two league and two europen matches we had about 6-7 free headers from corners.
Love short corners. Only 1 in 30 corners leads to a goal within three kicks (I read somewhere) and normally result in lost possession, so I'd rather we kept the ball. And we definitely, 100%, scored from a short corner last season. I remember it because I meant to mention it on here, the home of launchitandhopecorneritis. Vin
That's a very good point actually, if I remember right Maya was unlucky with one but the rest have been wasted. Graziano has had a couple n missed the target as well I think. I remember reading something similar recently actually, about goals from corners are down overall, was it you who brought it up previously about Barcelona always using short corners for this reason? Someone did and posted an article as well...
In fairness the short corners I hated most usually involved Twatbeard fannying around on the ball before putting in a thoroughly ineffective cross, and we used to do them THE WHOLE TIME.
Yeah does anyone else remember our free kick routines we used to attempt under Adkins as well when everyone was just screaming for Rickie to leather it!!
Here's Tim Sparv talking about the game. I don't remember him but he seems to have enjoyed his time here. He'd better not score
Saw him play a lot down at Staplewood. I honestly thought he would eventually make it to the first team.
It was indeed me but the blog post seems to have vanished. I think we should do everything the way Barcelona do. Let's start by signing Messi. Vin
Schneiderlin scored from a short corner against West Ham away last season. The game where he scored twice.
Ha! Beat me to it by 18 minutes. Folk always forget when it works. How many "lump it in the box" corners come to nowt? Though it does help if The defence is actually lipping as West Ham's were that day.
