Chance had to favour us some time...masses of possession, 23 shots, though only 3 on target (same as Palace).
Scoring ten minutes after Pelle goes off though. A sign? I know Long wasn't involved in the goal, but it was nice to see an attack that didn't involve Pelle with his back to goal, holding it up, losing it etc. I like Pelle, but by taking him out of the equation I think it frees up our clearly-talented attacking midfielders. PS - Thought Yoshida was excellent tonight.
At least the guys have 3 points to go into there 4 day team building break to Switzerland .......dread to think if we hadn't .
Only two things mattered tonight; That we ended our goal drought, and that we got all three points. Job done.
Yeah the performance doesn't matter so much, all about the result, and it's not like we need to be in flowing total-football form for Chelsea, that game will be all about grit and concentration and weirdly I think it may suit us to be on other end of possession Also even before the goal I was very happy with Mane, he's really turned himself around in my book, I thought he was a very limited, though useful player but he has been absolutely excellent since around the New Year. Seems so much stronger (apart from when it suits him), and getting much better and receiving the ball deep and then turning and breaking past the midfield, which we manage to do so rarely.
Maybe so, but I'm not going to think about the next game for a bit. I'm just going to gaze upon the three golden nuggets we put in the bag this evening and bask in their glow a while!
Hazard will go against Clyne. And if I know anything in my life, it's that nobody gets the better of Clyne. please log in to view this image
