VVD thought he could jockey Rondon and outpace/strength him, tiredness probably a factor but Rondon was clean through. Also impressed with how physical Robson-Kanu is. Gave it as good as he got to VVD and gave Yosh a torrid time in the air.

I know Forster tweeted Foster about time wasting in the past, but seriously. West Brom time wasted today from the first minute. Every goal kick. Every throw in. Every free kick. Every time Foster got the ball. I've never seen a team play like that, Inter coupled the tactic with play-acting, but I think the Baggies out-do them purely in timewasting.

Also I enjoyed the My Way rendition before kick-off, and until now I've thought it was a cringe-fest.

I sat in the northam block 43 today and the atmosphere was ****e. Far more noise in Kingsland north corner. 3 sides of the ground plus half the northam silent except for fleeting applause from the chapel when our subs warm up in front of them.

Boufal was good 1st half, poor 2nd. But pretty much everyone was poor 2nd half. VVD did not look composed. What was he thinking 2 professional fouls that didn't need to be made. Now we line up for Everton without him, great.

On the bright side, he gets a rest which he probably needs.

Someone is saying Hojbjerg had a right old strop when he was subbed off, was that right?

Has Pep improved City, not especially,
Has mourinho improved utd, not that much compared to the money spent.
Has Puel improved saints, over all no.

Are City fans calling for peps head, no
Are utd fans wanting mourinho to call it a day, no
No they need more time to see their projects through. If 2 great managers need time at least afford a bit of time to a manager who has come in and had to re build a team.

We done ok in the Europa cup, semi of the league cup but 3 places worse off than our best ever season in the premier league, well I'll pack his bags myself.

Disappointing end to 2016, let's see what he can do in January. We all want better results, we all want better performances, give him time to put it right.

A year ago there was a poll on Koeman in which many thought he had a game (Watford) to save his job. We pushed on after that.

    Happy 2017 to you all

Yep. Really reacted, and went straight down the tunnel. My gut feeling though was that it was aimed at his own poor performance, rather than at Puel for subbing him. But I could be wrong.

I saw a stat that said we had 71% of possession in the first half with ONE effort on target, the goal, says it all .... toothless and boring. Teams can just wait and then take their chances as they come.. Dreadful, not entertaining , tactically moribund. Garbage, I'll be there at Burnley and Liverpool, still trying to encourage, but it's out of habit rather than expectation.

Can't help feeling we are really not far short of being a very good side. Disappointing result today but I've actually thought we showed a bit more bite in the two defeats this week. Stupid errors costing goals though and that has to stop. Found myself actually agreeing with Merrington today (it's OK I'm getting counselling for it) when he said one of the frustrating things is when we do get the ball into the box, there are not enough players to make the most of it.

Annoyed with the ref today - he bottled the decision to show a second yellow to their player just before half time but showed none of that thought process with Van Dyke. No consistency.

A bit of luck, a bit of work on the training ground and no reason not to be optimistic for 2017. Happy New Year everybody. I'm off to celebrate....

We didn't do ok in Europe. We went out at the first opportunity. To not get out of that group was a travesty.

And you lamby, let's have a trophy next year to boot <ok>

Crazy to think that despite all the negatives (which, despite the overkill by a few there are certainly are some)...

That if we get 2 wins and a draw in one competition (though unlikely perhaps) then this season will be the best ever for a whole generation of Saints fans.

    Funny old game football.

I disagree, when the draw was made I was fully prepared to not qualify.

As it panned out then yeah, we really should have and I was absolutely as gutted as anyone (and still am if I'm honest) but it wasn't a travesty to not get through looking at the draw on paper.

Yes but to rely on an injury prone but proven striker (Austin) not to have a long term injury, or a returning long term injured wing player to return to his former best (JRod) or another wingman to suddenly be a striker (Redmond) or another non prolific striker (Long) To hope they would replace Pelle and Mane goal is just deluded.

We also seem to have shortest midfield with the worst ability to score that I can remember
