Pellegrino was asked that question in one of his pre match interviews near the start of the season and he said it was because Redmond had a good understanding with Bertrand or something along those lines. That was a while ago.

He ****ing would wouldn't he? A string of world class saves - well, not a string because we wouldn't muster that many shots, but you get the idea.
I think it’s because no one has ever thought that before. Joking aside, it’s weird that so many managers want to play with inverted wingers, yet they don’t want to play with right footed left backs or left footed right backs. It wouldn’t be so bad if our two wide players occasionally went outside their marker, instead of always cutting back onto their best foot. It makes it so easy for defending, when you almost always know what your opponent is going to do.
To be fair, going outside the opposition full back has become the role of our full backs, especially Bertrand. He and Redmond (or whoever) often try a one-two on the corner of the box with Ryan going to the byline. Cedric and Tadic do it less often but the point still stands.
Indeed, it's a tactic that's become well known. The winger cuts inside and the full-back provides the width and the option. Wish we had someone good enough to be a receiving option from the inevitable cross. Either the opposition CB heads it away [most likely], leaving Bertrand [or Cedric] totally out of position or we miss with the header.
