We look much much better at a higher tempo. Getting kicked about a bit by Watford, we're certainly a lot smaller than last season without Pelle and Wanyama in the side.

 

Who is on the bench that plays right back? Cedric is really starting to wind me up now.

 

Pied, he's gotta be on, if I was Cedric I'd ask to come off...

 

Fonte on and Yoshida rb, just like the good old days.

 

That would be my choice, for sure.

He hasn't been very good, and I don't mind subbing him. But part of it is the.... like the whole thing. There is no one for him to pass to. Which I mean, then don't just try the pass anyway and give it away. But I'm just saying there's a larger personnel/tactics thing going on here. I don't think a swap at RB is going to accomplish all that much.

 

Tadic has been our best player by a country mile. Would like to see Pierre on, probably for an under par SD second half. Need someone in the centre to dictate things (if we're not changing tactics).

 

I don't disagree that the tactical approach is contributing. But he's also just not playing with his head up...several passes where he simply didn't look to see whether there was a Saint in the same postal code before releasing.


Well, we have taken more shots from distance in this match than we did in an entire season under Poch. Have grown into it; still need more around the box.

 

Redmond needs to cross and not cut in.

You look lost without Mane, Pelle and Wanyama tbh.

 

That's generally been his biggest flaw since leaving Birmingham. Has a great cross on him; doesn't do it enough. Playing him as a striker isn't likely to encourage him to do it more, either.

We're 45 minutes into a new season with a new manager and a new system. Suspect you're a little premature there.

 

Well, we are getting better. We are missing Bertrand and Fonte... but the player I really think could make a big difference is Hojbjerg. For me, Cedric got better towards the end of the half. I prefer Martina though!

Think it has more to do with the rather strange decision to switch away from the formation that we acquired all of our players to fit in favour of a much different, and very involved, one that we unveiled halfway through preseason.

 

If we play in the second half as we did in the second half of the first half, then we should be able to turn this around and win. I'd like to see Hoijberg on though, I think he'll get a bit of space outside the box to take a few long shots which is something we've always lacked.
