    Saints 0-3 Toon.
    Wilson x2, Bruno.

Should we just play ASM in Joelinton's absence? I'm going to assume since we played ASM despite being 4-0 up he's fit enough to risk.

    ASM----------Wilson---------Almiron
    -Longstaff--Bruno--Shelvey------
    Burn----Botman--Schar----Tripps

Wasn’t willock playing in CM with Bruno and Longstaff? Straight swap, Joelinton for ASM.

Yeah, that's what I would do.

Unless... putting Shelvey in would actually make DPP cry in public.

Think this might be tough, they're a surprise package saints.

    0-1 away win, scrappy.

Looking at our performances, they're absolutely unbelievable.

We don't even allow the opposition a shot on target, we completely dominate from every area of the pitch.

Botman has been a revelation, a proper modern cb. No ego.

We play as a unit too, all for the club it feels like. Howe is top at not just picking talented players, but people with the right personality.

We are going places much faster than I ever imagined.

Can I just check.......Are we allowed to play new signings in this one or do we have to stick to the team that would have played the week before Christmas? <laugh>

I think if we can score two we win this one, Soton are not scoring many (11 in 13 games) and have only scored more than one goal in a game 3 times so far. Best defence in the league and in the form we are in I'd hope we should win this one. The only problem I can see is over confidence but I don't think Howe will allow this and with Wilson playing for a spot on the plane to Qatar, ASM potentially back in the team looking to get going again and Miggy out scoring Messi it shouldn't be an issue.

Definitely can't see Howe letting them get over confident, think he'll have them with feet firmly on the ground.

Another game we need to get off to a good start in, hopefully S'hampton will need to push on (need points and at home) so we can hit them on the break

Slightly controversial opinion incoming ... <whistle>

Think I'd start Murphy left side to give Burn some additional cover then bring ASM on for last 30mins or so

Keep midfield three of Bruno / Longstaff / Willock

It reminds me a little of when Leicester won the league saying “it’s just one game at a time.” I think Howe, like successful others, just firmly focuses on the immediate task at hand.

Obvs our ultimate goal is 4th, not 1st, but if you just focus on beating - or not losing - whats in front of you it all becomes a bit easier.

Hassenhutl... I ****ing hate the prick. I think more than old horse teeth. If we could, I'd play an entire fleet of January signings and watch the **** have another meltdown on the sideline.

Assuming that we're allowed to play Trips, Bruno, BDB and Chris Wood now - I'd like them all to score, at least once, hopefully in very controversial circumstances.

I know, I'm just joking because I've given Murphy plenty of stick before - mostly justified though. But yeah, he's done a couple of decent things in his last 2 appearances. Overall I still think he's been woefully below standard, but he is starting to show some glimpses.

Good reason to give him a game. Get the confidence flowing, see if he can remain a goal threat. If not ASK off the bench

Wasn't Joelinton on the bench a few weeks back, did Murphy not start then?
