The other chance was Højbjerg, who got the ball from the left 6 yards out but couldn’t do anything with it. But, on the other hand, look at the chances Kane & co. missed!
As pointed out on MOTD2, late in the game Kane fizzed a ball across the goal and Bertrand skidded to a halt.....as he said with a smile, I wasn't going to score an OG. It would have been a cert goal if a Spurs player connected, so it wasn't just us missing chances.
How exactly would a game against a team we haven't beaten at home since 2005 and a team we haven't finished above in even longer be considered a home banker?
Agree, a much better performance, really heartened too to hear our anthem being sung at the end of the game. I feared a much different outcome tbh both on and off the field. I'm certain that if the attitude of players and fans alike remains as it was yesterday, we will get out of this mess and head for better things. One match does not turn a season around, BUT it can make a difference to confidence. I thought the role played by Ryan Bertrand was telling, effort, commitment and organisation, perhaps that's what he needs. Yes, we rode our luck but honestly, with the ref's performance we needed what we could get, felt like we were playing 14 at one stage! People respond better to encouragement and I may be a lone voice here, but I sincerely hope MP2 does pull it off, he has remained dignified amidst all the unwarranted personal insults and abuse thrown at him by many. Obviously the Club has to decide if he remains in post or not. Let's hope it does not come to that and we can aim for a more stable period. Signings needed, yes, still 2 weeks to go, remain patient.
