It's cool, Lallana and Maya are both on crutches as a precaution, and we have a fortnight off. Shouldn't be any problems there.
I'm sure it will be. A footballer only has to scratch his leg and someone gives him a pair of crutches
Was a great day with the other results going our way as well. Break will be good I feel, it will revitalise us going into the busy festive period. Disappointed to hear Guly got booed. Did well when he came on I feel. Would have been great if he took that chance late on. A great way to silence the morons!
i believe GMI negatively affected the small fan base on here which translated itself to SMS and our away support. He was to blame for our poor form.
Sad to say we have a championship team with a championship manager. Can't fault BM as a championship manager but he's being found out in the premiership. His summer signings were testament to that. But as a Reading fan of very many years who has stood at Elm Park as one of around 1500 in the ground, in the old third and fourth divisions, I'll take the occasional foray in the top flight. Just hope we can get to the end of the season with more points than Derby got in their disaster year. As for your team. I've caught a few of your games on telly this season and you play some terrific football. Keep playing like that and you'll soon pull clear. There are far worse teams than Southampton in the premiership, and we're one of them, by a country mile.
Great result though! Now to chill out and celebrate with pizza and other things that are bad for me until MOTD is on.
Sad really as all the Reading fans have such a good outlook on their side and games, pity that your team suffers at the expense of others with less balanced fans!
Just back from the game. We played some lovely passing football...no one had a bad game, but we need to put chances away. At least this time, the better footballing side won. Shaw had a good game and has the makings of a great player. JRod played well, but Lambert had a great game...he was involved in everything. Both deserved a goal. Fonte and Yoshida played well...I could just go on. However, Reading had a couple of chances and we have been punished in other games. I bet few thought we'd get a 1.0 win. Hope Lallana isn't too injured. P.s. SKD had a good game...felt confident in him.
Don't worry...I didn't hear any boos and fans were singing Guly's name. It must be a tiny minority...morons to boo a player who has always tried his best and helped us get promoted last season.
Just got home from the game, and i cant understand the reports on here about Guly getting booed when he came on as from where i am in block 37 i could only hear all our usual chants FOR Guly + the Northam singing that if Guly scores they will be on the pitch. This was really good natured and supportive singing and chanting. In fact Guly played quite well for the short time that he was on the pitch. Good team performance today and we outplayed Reading in all departments - defence just get better & better, and really made up to have SKD back in goal, he wasnt over tested but what he had to do he did very well. Pity that we hadnt taken more chances but 3 points + clean sheet are all we need. Hopefully Lallana isnt too badly injured but at least he has 2 week recovery period. Another crap ref and the linesman on our side was totally useless - last home game it was the linesman on the Itchen side - ffs when are we going to get more officails like Mike Dean.
Lambert was superb today, imo probably one of his best all round performances for us even though he didn't score. J Rod was my only disappointment today....his 1st touch was not great and struggled to hold the ball up first half resulting in us losing pocession. He did okay when he received the ball deeper and in space but still not convinced he can cut it at this level.
There were a few who booed him as he came on and Fonte was quick to show is annoyance, nobody booed him off, if they did they were hypocrits of the first order.
To be honest their game plan worked and that's why we didn't score more, and they did hit the post, always a threat on the break, but La Fondre looked out of sorts and Roberts spent most of time getting off side then complaining about it.
Reading reminded me of Newcastle when they came to St Mary's - smash and grab. There are goals in the team, but there's neither the assuredness in possession or the defensive solidity to see out a game. I can see Reading nicking points here and there, but McDermott will need to address his tactical naivety and make some really good signings in January to stand a chance of staying up.
