From what I could see, Reading were set up to nullify Saints and grab a quick chance. Consequently, they barely had the ball in the second half, as Saints came at them in a calm and steady fashion. It wasn't the most exciting of games, but what excitement that was there was provided by us. I'll take the occasional calm and steady 1-0.
Agreed, but Sunderland may grind out enough points to stay thereabouts. QPR's players could be house-hunting in Europe by February.
It's lovely seeing teams around us going into a brutal run of games, knowing we've already been through ours.
Almost perfect day. The two minors were Lallana's injury and the morons that booed Guly when he came on. What a complete disgrace.
I am so pleased for KD, after the Arse game I wondered if he'd get another Prem game. A better one to go out on if this is his last! It did feel calmer at the back today. Oh and of course I never doubted Mr "points" Puncheon would shine for us this season.
Yes, one of the few times I find myself in agreement with Dave Muddleman on Solent. 10 mins left, 1-0 up, and we're booing a player coming on ? ? ?
Well, that table looks a lot better. Another good team performance but like Liverpool last week, we didn't really close it out. Reading might feel like they could have taken something, but we deserved it. We're getting closer to the important 19 game mark (well 18 as the Chelsea game won't get played for ages) and looking ok. Simple really, hold onto the form of the last six and we will finish midtable. I'm still in the Guly fan club, just remember that it's a vocal minority. And it sounded to me like he got backed for the time he was on the pitch. Plus he did well - Nigel played his cards right. I don't think they will do it now with the equally massive Sunderland game on Tuesday. Lose that and it is decision time for the owners. Would like them to back him though as he deserves the chance. (but it'll be tough)
Personally I think there is more pressure on O'Neil he's spent a lot of money and they are worse off. Only won three games in their last 25 and all three were against 10 men!
See him go over on it today and hobble about a bit? Had to go off during their free-kick 2nd half at the Northam end, then came on again. Just precaution hopefully.
