lincoln, please chill! im one of the most pessimistic people going, but were still in with a shout, we still hold a 6 point lead over the hammers with 3 games remaining, at least for us. its not over yet, but it is a blow. im holding out hope we can still do it!

bitterly disappointed in that performance. yes we controlled the whole game, yes we SHOULD have won, but defensively we were poor. we cannot defend from counter attacks and that happened today for all of their goals. As I said disappointed, but still I'd have taken mid table at the start of the season so second is unbelievable. We still have another 2 and a bit years for our 5 year plan! I for one am still on the bus/coach/plane/horse even donkey. Three games left to ensure top flight next year. (also very unlikely/almost impossible but Reading may slip up....)

Yes, apparently we've been a defensive shambles all season, according to one. I'm sure we'll read worse than that too, in the coming days.

For my money, it just shows how far we've come and how far we have to go. Reading have improved dramatically since the New Year, with the acquisition of Roberts. He gives them a bite they never quite had up until then. Fair play to them, as I don't think they'll falter now. We have a promotion to look after, and don't let's be down about it either.

I think we have personally. I think Kelvin has been at his absolute best and there have been a few games where the other team did what we did tonight. Not convert chances.

Maybe shambles is too strong a word for it though <laugh> I'll put it into different terms. We've defended like a mid table team.

Reading won't slip up imo.

In my eyes we only need 3/4 more points to get promoted. Still very doable. Keep the faith

alk, like your outlook! cant see reading slipping up now, but second and the promised land is still firmly in our grasp. tuesday needs to be immense tho, as said previously boro away might be some ask.

I feel a bit like we ran out of ideas in the second half. After about the third or fourth cross from the right, I think they knew what we would do each time, so was no longer as threatening. Can't knock our resolve to win every ball, but there was one difference tonight: they had the killer instinct. Was that our karma for the Leeds game?

Fonte is shiiiiiiiiiiite. What the **** was he doing.

Has not been the player of the previous 2 seasons and certainly behind Jos in the pecking order. Did not like the way he defended at Blackpool either. Promotion is still in our hands - but we are certainly making it hard for ourselves. I hate to write this - but we need a favour from Poyet tomorrow!!

If i'm honest that probably is the saints way, it always has been.

It wouldn't be saints if it were easy

Agree!

We had 19 shots to their 6. It is what you do with them that counts though.

I think the most annoying thing is that we could (and should) be home and hosed now. I fully expect us to beat Peterboro' but all the same it'd be nice to relax rather than worry about the bloody Hammer's result!

Well can't say I am surprised that we lost as Reading have been on such a run but cannot fault the effort from the team. Saints played pretty well and we just have to move on to Peterborough. Reading were clinical and fair play to your side you defended magnificently, however I am a little bitter that we lost 1-3 as I think that score line does not reflect the game. Eitherway we move on and both teams will be promoted and you learn from games like this.
