**** it we should bring Jos back and we won't need strikers. Maya will score our weekend goals and Jos can score when we play midweek.

Bloody easy this management lark <ok><laugh>

In all seriousness, if Long starts up top alone with Davis, Redmond and Tadic behind him I would have to seriously question what MP is seeing.

That's hysterical. Tadic is our second-top in expected goals (44th in the league) at 1.1, with Romeu two spots behind with the same total.

So, Yoshida up top, Tadic on the left, Romeu on the right?

Can't help looking at JRod in 21st pretty much equal with F*&$%^g Sadio Mane.

And Nathan Redmond. 56th place with 23 shots, expected goals of 1.0 ...aaand grand total of 0.

Presumably Gabbiadini at CB if we want him to get into dangerous positions. It doesn't even count Yoshida's penalty win by getting within 10 yards of their goal.

The contrast to Redmond (worst example) is kind of amazing. I'm not trying to start an xG debate but he has scored exactly the number of goals he should have from all his efforts. That's not bad shooting ability, it's bad decision making.

Two weeks away from the game can do wonders, particularly when your team is so boring (and you don't replace watching them with an equally, if not more, boring national team). But it's Saturday, so my mind is back on track. And for 24 hours or so I'm going to be positive. A nice, solid, comfortable 2-0 win where we play really well.

The risk is that I look at teamsheet tomorrow, notice that little, if anything, has changed in terms of formation and personnel, and thus walk up the stadium with absolutely no enthusiasm again. I don't want to feel like I did going into those Watford and Man Utd matches.

I am happy to support any XI that puts in a performance. If we are lackluster again & we don't change anything then I will be disappointed.

Dull 1-0 win or a belting 3-3 draw?
Right now, I would take the draw. We are likely to end mid-table I reckon. We need the performance more than the points right now. And by we, I mean the team and the fans.

I like that post, but I wouldn't turn down the 3 pts, even for a 1-0 with a OG.

I don't want to check tbh.

I know though that West Ham are the only team we've scored against at home on a Saturday in 2017 including one FA Cup game <laugh>

Yeah, it is a tough one. If we're walking out of St Marys having won 1-0, but witnessed yet another dire game, I don't see that the mood will have changed one iota. I left St Marys feeling tons more positive after losing to Man Utd, than after drawing Swansea. But we would be walking away with three points in that scenario.

I guess as much as I wanted to be enthused and entertained, I can't really turn down extra points if given a straight choice. One or the other, between wins and entertainment (ideally both), is what it is all about - but given a straight choice between them, it does have to be points. Although right now, just even contemplating a choice between them is somewhat of a luxury.

But playing well and losing to Utd didn't help us in our next game, did it. So at this tender stage of the season I'd prefer to be further away from those pesky three at the bottom. I don't trust MP with a fight. There, said it.

    Home: 3, 1, 0, 3, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 // 0, 3, 0, 0

    Away: 0, 0, 1, 4, 4, 1, 1, 2, 0, 2 // 0, 1, 1

(League matches in 2017. Slashes indicate change of season/manager.)

Just my luck that the only home match I have missed in 2017 was that first one, against Leicester! West Ham should be ashamed of themselves, conceding four of the only seven that have followed that Leicester game.
