Ther can be no denying Reed has ****ed up the last 18 months or so. If he fails to sort it out by the end of next summer I’d be all for replacing him.

Did Austin touch the ball today?

Good to see us play two up front. But with Redmond still in the team, and Tadic still on the right, it was only a small step in the right direction. The performance was better than against Watford, but that's about it.

Nothing I saw today dissuaded me for still thinking that 5-3-2 is the way to go. Give Bertrand and Cedric a little more freedom - whilst providing us with natural width at the same time; Provide Lemina with a little more protection in the middle of the park to allow him to continue bringing the ball forward; Get Hoedt back into the team; Continue with a partner for Gabbi; Get Redmond out of the team, and as far away from Bertrand as possible.

Can we afford to wait until the end of next summer? We'd be walking into a third straight season in that scenario.

For me, he's already failed sufficiently to be replaced. At the absolute most, he only has the January window to rectify things in my eyes.

And I've said since the start of the season that Austin looks totally finished.

I am sorry but you are just repeating your prejudices. I recall well a brilliant VVD cross field pass to Cedic from almost left back position to half way inside their half on the right. Watch the game in an unbiased and unprejudiced way FFS.

Yes he was. Watford moved for him really quickly, whilst we were dithering about whether to keep Claude or not

Boufal was superb for us. There has to be a word to describe people who make biased, unfounded and prejudiced statements about someone without a shred of evidence or even thinking about what they are saying.

I have always felt that Friend is no friend of ours. :)

Never understood why their player was not sent off. That tackle looked bad enough to be a straight red let alone a yellow

If I was a Newcastle fan I would feel robbed that they hadn't won!!!!! We only seem to get a wiggle on when we are behind :(

Agreed on both counts. I don't know how their no 17 stayed on the pitch for the second half. Perez should have gone 30 seconds after his yellow for the tackle on Lemina. The ref was gutless and **** useless. They're meant to be full time professionals yet we had better refs who worked all week as school teachers and coppers.

Actually, I thought he was very poor today. Might not be to do with attitude, but he was awful.

I went to your game today, hoping to see Newcastle get beat. It was a right laugh. I was booing and jeering that ex mag Fraser Forster, all game, and I booed Redmond's assist as I thought it was a bad pass, at first. I got in an argument about it with the local drunk, in the end, we agreed to disagree.

I couldn't sit back in that part of the ground again. I'd end up knocking him out!

I was glad that Tadic didn't take it. Not sure why Gabbi hasn't taken them before when he's been on the pitch

But Romsey, your instinct was to launch into criticism. Completely unjustified in my opinion. He hasn't been given any sort of run in the team.

He does OK but admittedly I’m not overwhelmed with him like most people seem to be. The best we have though by quite a long way on today’s evidence.

I recall that. It was great. However there were a few occasions where he was done too easily and didn't show the appetite to win it back. He got out muscled by little Perez at one point. When he started with that early cross field pass I thought that he was back... but overall I felt that he held back (even the challenge he limped after) and thought he played well below himself.
