The first two goals show the different aspects of Shane Long’s game, so well.
The one he scored was a “goal scorers” goal, good running with the ball and a pass into the back of the net.
The second goal showed the Shane Long we see all too often, where a heavy touch turned into a perfectly weighted pass for Graziano.
Maybe this is why we aren’t scoring enough goals. Only Graziano knew where to be, to take advantage of Long’s “ball control”.

I find Mourinho annoying, but I have just warmed to him....he has said on Sky that Southampton are the only team to have dominated United for any period of time this season. Let's hope for more of the same + goals on Sunday.

    . I would personally go for a 3-4-3:

    -------------------------------------------------Forster-----------------------------------------------
    ----------------------Maya-----------------Virgil-----------------Hoedt----------------------------
    Cedric---------------------Romeu-------------------Lemina-----------------------Bertrand
    ------------------Boufal---------------------Gabbi-----------------Tadic-------------------

With Lemina encouraged to provide the link between midfield and attack and the front 3 given license to interchange and swap positions.

That`s the team I`d like to see, with possibly Stephens for Yoshida.

No, because the level of despair amongst some of the people on here is about where I'd expect it to be on the Crystal Palace forum.

Guilty as charged...though some of the despair may be due to the fact that we have higher expectations now. We have seen how good Saints could be, but now have to accept that sometimes teams have times like that when everything comes together. The important thing is that we do reasonably in the down times and wait for things to come back together again....the right manager and right players. For all we know that could be now, but we just need them to bed in.

I know that a win or two changes my attitude....perhaps that is all the players need...the knowledge that they can score goals and can win games.

Broke my usual rules of life and took a quick look on NewsNow (I know!) and was greeted with an American Weblog with the headlines "Newcastle handed a boost as Southampton suffer a crushing blow ahead of weekend clash".
OMG what has happened? Shane Long is injured.........LOL!

'Southampton are a funny team who don't score enough goals. I know people will be surprised that I'd say they will win this 2-0 but I just think sooner or later something has to happen and they need to start entertaining otherwise Mauricio Pellegrino is going to be in trouble.

They sacked the last manager because he was not entertaining enough and the new manager is no different so far. Newcastle had a good result against Liverpool but I also look at their last away game when they lost at Brighton'

    Paul Merson Predicts 2-0

I never get the logic (a term that can only loosely be used when talking about Merson) of assuming something will happen because it is about time. It would be logical to say that we rarely score and therefore are unlikely to score this time, but it is not logical to say that we rarely score so must be due some goals. This is one of his favourite bits of reasoning.
