After such a good team display as we saw I think it makes Chaplows performance all the more special that he was virtually everyones man of the match. I think he is the epitomy of the team ethos and has got himself to an unbelievable level of fitness.
When he 1st arrived I thought he would be a good no nonsense back up to Morgan and Deano. He did a great job last season in the centre, but after Corks arrival I feared for him as effectively 4th choice centre midfielder.

His response has been 1st class and he has reinvented himself as wide midfielder and got himself in the team ahead of more talented players with the football in Holmes and De Ridder.

He looked a lot more comfortable on the right hand side yesterday and deserves all the plaudits.

    Well done Chappers

Davis - 8 - Very commanding, top performance.

Butterfield - 7.5 - Peach of a ball in for the first goal and should start Tuesday based on his overall display.
Fonte - 8 - Back to his best.
Hooiveld - 7.5 - Equally as solid, no nonsense and kept McDonald fairly quiet.
Fox - 7 - Slow and a couple of poor touches but did well against their almost non-existent width.

    Chaplow - 9.5 - Sensational. The definition of work-rate.
Hammond - 7 - A bit quiet and nearly played us into trouble but released the ball much quicker 2nd half.
Cork - 7.5 - Good passing and winning back of the ball, but wouldn't be surprised if he's rested Tuesday for Schneiderlin.
    Lallana - 8.5 - Class personified.

Guly - 9 - When he's in the mood, he's fantastic. Desperately unlucky not to get his hat-trick and got frustrated after that but a key difference in a much more comfortable position.

Lambert - 8.5 - Gave the 'Boro back line so many problems and won was so a threat in and around the box. Improved so much since he's arrived.

Nigel - 99 - Everything he does seems to come off.

You can't give Nigel less than 12 out of 10 (have adopted Beddy maths).

On Goals on Sunday Paul Jewell said that Saints were the best team he'd seen this year. Also added that a lot of results are topsy turvy so he wouldn't be surprised of P'boro won on Tuesday. Well he's half right!

That would be "my dad and I"...

I agree with you though in that the line between confidence and complacency is a fine one, and one that it's crucial we stay on the right side of. If we treat Peterborough with respect for being the decent team they can be, and base our gameplan around that, there is no reason why we can't beat them convincingly.

We drew after beating West Ham so we must be up for it on Tuesday. I don't think its complacency so much as deflation after a high. However, I'm sure the players were more excited after the Hammers' game than after Saturday. WE have to build on our season so far and make sure we beat teams lower down the table.

Guly scores 2, is a couple of inches from a hat-trick. and yet some people give him a 7?

And Lallana gets a 7 by many too? Just him walking over the white-line at kick off yesterday lifted the whole team. With him we score more goals as seen yesterday so just starting the gam should be an automatic 7 for his influence :)

I agree. It looks like Chaplow and De Ridder can compete for the right side and Guly and Connoly can compete to be up top with Lambert. I think it is also safe to say that if any of the above don't start and have to come on as a sub, they would certainly make an impact. It's great having such a competitive squad all wanting to play!
