We could also look at the situation and say that we have done really well in the last few weeks with a make shift squad and without outstanding quality [Gabbiadini, van Dijk etc.].
I love the fact Ian Thumwood pounces again. His line .... another game without a goal... what the ****? We just beat WBA and Palace with no goals? Miraculous. Anyway, moving on from that silliness.... City were excellent. They stopped us playing our game rather than us being off in my opinion. They were at the whole 90 minutes. ****ers. Times I've seen them half at it this year, but they decide to turn up for us! Typical. Jack Stephens looked excellent today and several times, he had to let Aguero out his pocket after he had cleaned up. Not perfect, but looks like a Premier League CB with 200 games under his belt, not 12. Lastly, Sane was quality. Complete quality. Then he was a complete dick with his antics towards Jack. Good job they took him off because I'd have forgiven Jack if he'd taken a red for "doing" the gobby little ****e. Shame, as he was superb.
Nathan had some good touches however City swarmed him with blue shirts today. He certainly has picked up in the last couple of months and looks very effective.
Oh one thing... not sure if mentioned during the game Ryan's touch in the first half out to Redmond.... sexy!
Yeah they were. I spoke to Billy, my mad City supporting mate and celebrated fan, who also moonlights as guitarist for The Cult (yep, namedrop, live with it!) and his response was "yeah when on form city are v good but not "on form" with enough regularity yet". We just got them on an on-form day.
Their work rate surprised me, they were on it from the get go.........sadly. Fully deserved the win. On to the next.
City, on their game would beat us 9 times out of 10, today was one of those occasions. I agree that Jack Stephens was excellent and this is invaluable experience for the lad. Just move on to the next one and not dwell too much....
Gutted I missed you both! Went there but don't have either of your numbers... must have left just before you turned up!
Oddly, Bertrand making forward runs does worry me because if we give the ball away which happened a couple of times today, then there is no cover and a team as good as Man Cities will exploit it.
Agree that Sane looks scarily good for his age. Also agree that Stephens looks class considering his few games. There may be a few times he's been caught out in his run in the team but he will learn from it and is certainly improving all the time. Certainly looks a player n not the relative rookie he is. Reckon he'd walk in to about 6-8 teams in this league. On another note, where he's been out so much in past year or so, it's been easy to forget just how ****ing good Kompany is. Proper class act.
He did. Considering we were slightly outclassed and could barely get a toehold in midfield, he was one player who looked like retaining a bit of possession from time to time.
Sigh. Did Puel cut you up on the M27 or tread on your toe or refuse you an autograph once, Ian? As usual, I disagree with much of your post. The suggestion that the board will consider the exodus during a 4-0 defeat as indicative of a widespread discontent, or that such sentiments are so common they will lead to slow season tickets sales is frankly risible.
