    Alan Green on 5Live before the game had no sympathy for City at all. They've accepted the "satellite shilling" as he called it and should have two teams strong enough to win the league (or beat us, at least!) considering all the money they've got...

    Thierry Henry proposed Long as man of the match....said he was everywhere pulling Man City players in all directions. Didn't watch the whole game so can't comment, but we do benefit from having a player that others are wary off. Stops them relaxing.

    Talking about the possession that City had (60%). I think I'm correct in saying that this season we have less possession than last season without affecting our ability to win.

    Three of the top seven are below 50% possession: West Ham, ourselves, and Leicester. Those are the eighth, sixth, and joint-third best defenses in the league, and three of the top seven in shots taken...there is definitely more than one way to win a football match.

    That's actually giving too much credit to Man City. They were too lazy to follow Long around. He did take the ball off their midfielders and defenders like 15 times though.

    If you try to just jog around the pitch against Saints when Mane and Long are in the side, expect to get beaten badly. There was a nice sequence in the middle of the game that didn't result in anything, but VVD stopped them at our end, ran past pretty much their entire side on the counter, the counter was stopped, so then VVD ran past their entire team again going the other way on their counter, and then ran past them yet again on the counter to the counter to the counter.
