I made it pretty clear that I would never boo myself. But I still do understand it. These managers all seem to have a blind spot for him, presumably he works hard in training or something. But he is stealing a living.
Well it’s obvious the fans know more than the last three managers. And there’s simply no good reason at all why they’re in the dugout and we’re in the stands.
Just realised. Can you imagine how silly Alcarez would have felt if he did his knee in celebrating and the goal was ruled offside….
That was a pretty stressful game of football and a pretty dire game as well but a win is a win. That is 6 points from 9 so there are shoots of improvement but still a long way to go. Apart from the win anx the goal what was most pleasing is that they worked as a team especially defending. They forced Leicester to play backwards and there was always 2 Saints players around the Leicester player with the ball. Hopefully they can get confidence from this win anc build on it
From where I was sat it was the knee slide where the damage occured, they hadn't flooded the pitch like they used to and it was a bit dry in that area.
From where I sat Adama was actually giving Leicester a bit of a problem, yes he was running around a lot, but his pace on a couple breakaways did give them a bit to think about, sadly his finishing was his usual standard. I also thought Theo had a good game and Eli did put a lot of energy in to his work which is what we needed at the time. I thought the penalty was harsh and I would have grumbled if it had been against us. Baz is still learning from his mistakes, can't do better than a clean sheet however it comes. 30,135 seemed a good crowd for a team that is rock bottom?
I don't think possession mattered for a lot of the game as Leicester had most of it near their goal. We got up the pitch quicker and in more numbers for the first hour and that's what made the difference.
It's one thing Selles has definitely instilled: we get people forward. When Theo scuffed that shot into a defender, half our team was in their box on the break.
The "fans" put in the worst performance today. Lots of booing and jeering. I have never seen Ward-Prowse look anxious but he did today when taking the penalty.
I haven't had the luxury of replays so I will take your word for it. (Just seen it on MoTD and they confirm it, just seeing the assistants reaction says it all)
MOTD curated to make us look as **** as possible and then no discussion about us after we had won bar a nod to Alcaraz and how lucky he was to still be on and score Come on guys we don’t win often… (I have to say Bednarek and Bella-Kotchap do appear to have got luckier today than I first realised, I already knew Bazunu had been terrible).
On a seperate note, met a lovely Irish family on the walk to the ground. Fully kitted out in fresh saints gear who had flown over from Limerick to take their son named Adam (after Lallana) to his second ever saints game. (First being our recent win over city) if that is not luck of the Irish I do not know what is. Fair play planning such a trip when we were bottom of the table and playing terribly. Glad Adam got to see another win.
Even if Alcaraz is injured, that goal just highlights how well we could do with a runner playing off Che. Maybe Theo or Sulemana, or this might be where we can finally utilise Adam Armstrong. He's better at tackling than Walcott also (not sure yet about Sully, seems okay). Leicester won't be the only team to play such a high line against us, and I think this could actually be our best way of creating chances. We're not doing much attacking down the sides at the moment, and our slow passing build-up is a joke.
