The only clubs to concede fewer in the top four European leagues: Bayern Munich and Juve. Only clubs with a better goal differential: Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich. (that was meant to be an edit, not a quote. Oh well)
You came to defend. But you did a good job of that. I like Pearson, and think he had his tactics right and the team played hard. It's going to be a slog, but if Leicester can play like this all season I think they will stay up.
We still haven't played many of the top teams but, looking at the table, we haven't played a lot of the worst ones either!
We have played 11 out of 19 PL sides...huge achievement to win 8, draw 1 and lose 2. Doesn't matter what teams they are, not many teams could achieve that.
I don't think we were very good today. It looked a lot like the match against WBA, a bore goalless draw the most likely outcome. But then Saint Long started to justify his fee. He brought us three points today. Pelle I wasn't very happy about. He tried to play attractive flicks all the time, and to no avail. It's maybe overconfidence but I think he tried to be too flashy today. Later in the game he returned to basics and there you go, he assisted Long for Long in a manner which earned his this appreciation we all have for him. Tadić was fairly anonymous, maybe he doesn't like to play when it's raining. But nothing worked for him today. Wanyama I thought was the best player today. Bertrand and Mane were also very good, but mainly in the first half. Our defense was once more superb.
Just got back. Wanyama was immense today. And 2 quality finishes from Long. Thought our crossing and decision making in the final third was quite poor today though. But we got the win. Fair play to Leicester, they defended well and had a game plan. That touch from Long when he was through was sublime, especially in those conditions. He showed me the qualities that me happy when he signed him.
You pressed up though, and gave our defence something to think about. In the first couple of minutes you signalled your intent by getting in the spaces between our back four when they were passing it between them. Forster nearly got caught out by that. Tight game which for long periods could have gone either way. Don't despair mate, on that evidence Pearson's got you set up to cause any team problems. Sometimes you just need a bit of luck.
Yep, Bertrand was the exception. But we wasted so many good positions, it was getting very frustrating.
It was frustrating because Leicester kept it narrow, kept there shape really well, and gave us absolutely no room to play in. There was one point midway through the 2nd half when we were passing the ball about at the edge of their box for the longest time, but they still refused to get pulled out of shape.
Fantastic result. These are always the tough games when you are expected to win against a side who are struggling. We were patient, and Shane made a huge difference. Really happy for him. We just keep winning. Great times.
Very tough game, and exactly the sort we would have lost last year. Very pleased with it, sometimes you just got to grind out a result, and thats exactly what we did
Man, do I hate reading on the web all these comments from people expecting us to blow out of steam very soon. These are probably the same people who expected us to be relegated. Well I'm all for proving them wrong again, it's time they learn one does not dismiss Saints!
To dismiss a team whose form is WWWWWWLWWWWW is moronic. Actually if anything the losses against 'pool and Spurs look more and more like 6 points dropped every week.
