Bit of an attitude problem according to Swindon fans who have met him out and about - proper big time Charlie apparently. I can't see him getting a move for more that 3 or 4 million despite his goals and his age but then again young and English does put the price up.

Nice pun there. Intentional?

Benayoun has never been bought for alot of money- around the 5 million mark by Chelsea and Pool, with his high wages I would guess Chelsea would snap anyones hand off for a couple of million, and if he is willing to play for 30 grand a week then I would call that a steal. He would suit our style and suit Ramirez, do not know if he can play left or right as Ramirez has to be in the middle. If he is fit and up for it I would play him instead of Punch when Lallana is fit (waiting for the ARE YOU MAD ) brigade. He plays quick balls to feet and then looks for the return which is how Ramirez and Lallana play - but not Punch

Im not so sure we would be paying a couple of million for him - I think Chelsea would rather be shot of him so im thinking a nominal undisclosed fee - you also have to bear in mind he has barely played in 6 months...no one will pay much for that - but still think he could do a good job although im not convinced he is coming.

If we paid 9 mil for Austin I would actually want Cortese and Adkins sacked.

Even better, afterall Chelsea will have to pay roughly 2 million in wages to him until the end of the season

you are not mad. Low fee or a loan and lower wages than stated, he'd be useful.

He'd be alright on cheap wages/loan. But dropping our most inform player would be mental, wait for Yossi to earn his place on merit not reputation.

All true.

Benayoun is by all accounts a very intelligent footballer, I'd like to see him linking up with Ramirez, I think they would be very suited to each others style of play.

West Ham set to sign Chamakh. Looks like they've given up on Lambert. Wise move.

If this is the case he is a very poor back up option to Lambert. A friend of mine in Poole who grew up with and played with Austin told me we were in for him just before he moved to Burnley. He did however tell me that Austin had said he would rather play at Burnley as they were also in for him. Can't imagine his mindset has changed and would not want him here, especially at that price!

I wouldn't want to sign Benayoun, but I'd take him on loan until the end of the season straight away - so long as Chelsea continue paying some of his wages (as I understand it, West Ham didn't have to pay 100% of his wages).

Could prove a very useful squad player.
