I tried picking out all of the players that we have actually been linked with and left the players that people were wishing for alone. If i missed any i do apologise but **** it im not going through 71 pages of drivel again. Some of this thread is painfull to say the least!

Some polish women from polish Sky Sports saying about the West Ham Lambert bid has still to be answered.

Maybe Cortese has done as he did with Liverpool's enquiry for Chamberlain? It came by fax so he stuck in straight in the bin and did not reply.

Cortese doesn't reply if he feels insulted. Remember he said that he put one fax straight in the shredder because he felt faxing and not calling was disrespectful. WHU had better send a message on vellum by liveried courier.

Unbelievable comment about "lazy" players. Did you see how much closing down he did against Arsenal. I just think spotting a truly quality footballer is too subtle for many English football league fans. His first touch, his movement with and without the ball, his vision to see a pass that no one else in our team can, the fact he sees things far quicker than his team mates, his directness, etc. I am not saying he has been our best performer, I am countering your suggestion that he's not as good as people are saying. He is our best footballer.

He uses his footballing brain...that can put you in the right spot and not waste energy chasing hopeless causes. Adkins is very impressed with him and says the other players are learning from him...good enough for me.

Alan Nixon on the Rickie Lambert situation between WH and SFC:

"No way Southampton sell him. It's either a bid for a new contract from the player. Or just pish."

Can't see Lambert getting a new contract as he must have been upgraded on promotion. Doubt it's even occurred to him to try this soon (unless he's read about Gaston's dosh). Still he could always ask Nicola (and good luck with that, to quote our leader).

Rumours building that we have signed Butland. I hope this isn't true. For me the GK we sign in January needs to be reliable and experienced. We have Gazza for the future and Butland is hardly setting the world alight at the moment.

I understand the sentiment of people saying this, but how can signing possibly the most thought of young English keeper not be a good thing. If we go back to early season when we were rock bottom, I said that relegation isn't the end of the world. We have a policy of signing good young players and so signing Butland is a good thing for me.

Apparently a guy tweeted that Saints had signed Butland, ON FIFA. Other than that I only see tweets of people saying "oooh rumours Butland has signed for SFC" and the like.

I want Butland but that's just about the biggest kick in the bollocks to Gazza possible.

Don't see the logic in it, saw Butland struggle at L2 level just a year ago, and wondered how he'd get on. Then he has made a lot of howlers at Birmingham.
