I always see Scandanavia as Finland, Sweden and Norway, never really counted Denmark! Oops. <laugh>

The strictest definition of Scandinavia doesn't actually include Finland. It's Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Carlos Sanchez starting tonight for Valenciennes, and Saints have a senior scout there watching him.

Game is live on ESPN and Carlos is #6 for the reds.

That's the Scandinavian Peninsular, which is a Geographical term - Scandinavia is more of a cultural term. Though Joe is correct in saying that the strictest definition excludes Finland, you can often count it, along with other Nordic council territories of Iceland, the Faroe Islands and other "countries" like Greenland and Svalbard. But yeah, while Finland basically is in Scandinavia, and is part of the Scandinavian peninsular, technically it isn't. Denmark definitely is, despite not being on the peninsular.

Historically it's because Norway, Sweden and Denmark were the "three kingdoms". Finland was part of Sweden for hundreds of years, so it's since been associated with Scandinavia, but it's actually pretty similar culturally to Estonia, and is often considered to be part of Eastern Europe.

How can you disagree with each other when you're both reading from Wikipedia?

Strange place Denmark...they live in a fifties time warp (decor wise) and there is a real shortage of lightbulbs as they conduct life in the dark. However, they are practically indistructible and can be thrashed with a gun and kicked repeatedly and get up without a scratch or a limp. Unless The Killing isn't real<yikes>

Looks like Lescott is surplus to requirements at City. I've always rated him. What do others think?

Are we back to this idea of only signing good-looking players again? Have to say I didn't expect you would be the one to bring that back dman!
