The lads would rock up to training on a cold rainy December morning, walk in the dome only to find out it’s now been converted ...
Big Wes is the most frequent visitor! I swear he rips a few blunts before kick off , there’s no other explanation.
I'm quite happy that we're considering a move for Mitchell, but telling the media that we're thinking of making an approach for someone is putting the cart before the horse in a rather familiar manner. Try to make sure that the thing you want to do is viable first, then tell the fans about it, not the other way around.
I'm sure we would never do something as stupid as that. How are Walcott, Shaw, Tosun, Mawson, Sturridge, Promes and Sessegnon getting on, by the way.
I like it. He knows the setup. We were quite successful while he was here. I just wish he would say "Suh-LON," not "SAL-on."
Did we give him a £250,000 pay off when he left for all the very hard work he done for us when he was here. Oh sh1t. Sorry
It seems to me Reed masterminded his own demise by taking ownership of critical areas where he should have had oversight. Recruitment, player development, facilities development, managerial appointments. Only the latter seems to warrant having the Director of football directly responsible. For the others you would want specific expertise and the success of the the roles would be easily measured. Not working? Move them on and get in a replacement. Look for improvement. Makes sense to then look at a different structure. The noises emerging make sense. That's got to be good. As for Paul Mitchell - Does he have love for the club and think he can move himself three steps forwards by moving two backwards? If we can offer him what he wants then great because his track record has been very good everywhere he has been. My main worry is that we are a ****ty proposition at the moment. The only way is up but why start again near the bottom when he's working near the top. Money talks, so Ralph doesnt need to on this one, I think.
From Wiki "He is now in the employ of RB Leipzig and is responsible for the production of their younger talent and player recruitment." He might be tempted to get the Academy and Staplewood working as it should do and he would obviously be on a better contract than he was working here before.
I was very surprised he left Spurs was it?......if it’s the guy I’m thinking saints missed him very much. Someone else has already mentioned this and as they said we have gone Down hill rapidly since he left. Hopefully he showed interest before this news got out.
Oh, I'd love to have him back. He's an extremely well-regarded player recruitment executive, and I maintain that he's probably the person most responsible for our excellent transfer business. Split off the business-side stuff and hire a CEO (as we once had) or even multiple C-level staffers and let Mitchell run football ops. That is, if Mitchell has any interest in returning.
I'm paraphrasing from memory but the story with Spurs was publicised at the time as a falling out with Levy over not letting him do his job i.e. identify and sign players. Levy kept interfering I think so Mitchell tried to leave but was forced to stay on contractually - It wasn't long after he moved there, maybe less than a year. When that contract expired he obviously left but I don't know that the move was trumpeted, I certianly didnt know about it. He'd be a bloody good asset but he hasn't got a good record for staying in a position for very long......
