Okay, the "official vote of confidence" hasn't arrived from the club (probably a good thing with the way those usually turn out). My suspicion is that they have leaked something to that chap from the Telegraph, as he has had access to Cortese before, and has suddenly come out with this story on how Adkins' job is safe. The other news outlets have also seemed to pick up on this story. Now this has temporarily been put to bed I think it's important that we deliver our own "vote of confidence" and make a hell of a racket on Saturday. The support against Spurs was probably the worst i've ever heard at SMS, but the 1500 that made the away trip to WBA showed how impressive our fans can be. Please lets all get behind the team and Adkins on Saturday, i'm hoping to have no voice left at all by the evening.
I agree. The only positive effect we can have on our team and our club is to go out and support them, whether we are winning or loosing. Unfortunately with a much bigger crowd at home you get more doom merchants, but hopefully people will realise that our backs are against the wall, we need to fight for our right to be in this league. When your up against it crowds often stand up and make themselves heard, hopefully everyone in St. Marys will be doing that on Saturday.

I think that's extremely unlikely. He stayed with Scunthorpe when they were relegated and got them straight back up again and I think he and the board would see him as the best candidate to do the same with us.
I am sure at the end of the season when we have finished 13th and Lallana has played for England we will all remember back to the start of November and how close we came to doing something really silly.
Adkins has a great attitude to life. Not too down and not too up. Loves his job, wants to succeed but I think he also accepts that things can happen and managers get sacked. I expect he would just dust himself off and go and get another club promoted. I want him to succeed obviously for Saints' sake, but also he has worked very hard to get to the PL and deserves success for his own sake. I still think that one day he could be an international manager.
I fell upon this thread whilst bored & just perusing. After reading the first page it felt like this was the week that maybe discussions took place behind the scenes. A vote of confidence wasn't necessary because NA was to be given more time, however, it also feels that it didn't really matter how January panned out, the next stage of SFC's evolution was already in place. Perhaps results delayed the decision by maybe a couple weeks, who knows? But reading back, there certainly was things going on behind the scenes. Not meaning to dig up old ground. Although I was sad about the decision, I said at the time NC had earned our trust, & he has just proved how he remains a step ahead of everyone at each stage. We genuinely are very fortunate to have him dragging our club kicking & screaming to levels that we rarely would dream of. There's some nice comments in this old thread, there's also a prediction that was only three days wrong, but if you don't fancy churning up old turf, please just ignore it
Yes, looking back on it now it seems like Adkins would have been removed rather soon no matter what happened. I feel like NC was already looking for replacements and just waiting for the right person to come along. He found it in Pochettino and therefore made the move. If anything, the Saints' starting to turn the corner may have actually hastened Adkins' departure because both NC and MP became convinced Saints could stay up and were ready to take the next step. Otherwise we might have waited until summer and if we'd gone back down, NA might have been allowed to stay. He may have been doomed by his own success, oddly enough.
