Interesting listening to Blackmore saying that not long after GAO bought the club , china changed their minds , so it would seem to me that some of the mud thrown his way is not really deserved ?
Could be an interesting last away game tribute with a Dothraki horde following the Dragan to Leicester. Some of our fans might need to smarten up a bit, though. The ladies could don a blonde wig.
Not going to chuck money at us but "we're in a much better position now than we were yesterday" (Semmens).
Interesting how different some people can interpret things On SW they are saying the Semmens interview is “managing expectations” one with no new money Whereas I heard him talk about achieving current plans faster. An example *could* be bringing in a goalkeeper now instead of the summer. It might not of course. All how you interpret it
Semmens clarifies on Solent that the club board will remain untouched. There will be an ownership board above that, consisting of: Solak, Kraft, Liebherr, Ankersen, Semmens and Steele
This has always been the case, Gao was an easy target, and the “lack of ambition” which he was accused of was because his money was tied up in China. He has also been trying to sell the club for years now, and in the meantime has put an excellent management team together in Semmens, Steele, and Crocker, who the new ownership are obviously happy to keep in place. So I think we should be grateful to Gao for not flogging us off to the first bunch of chancers that came along!
From what we've heard from Martin Semmens on Solent a few minutes ago, your point is spot on. He seemed to allow the time for this process to come to what appears to be a satisfactory conclusion. It seems good news and we can only wait and see what actually happens over the longer term. These guys are business people and will apply, hopefully, good business sense to satisfy their investment, let's not forget that.
I suspect he would've done, had it been entirely up to him. Katharina insisting on that 20% stake and a veto power is what saved us really. She got the sale wrong - or got duped - with the Chinese pulling the overseas sports industry funding, but that was a blessing. Much rather this than a DaGrosa.
This 100%. Gao didn't asset strip us or get involved with the club, letting Semmens run the club (best thing he could have done). I'm glad he's gone, but I appreciate what he's done for us - first by waiting for the right buyer and second for selling for a big loss.
I do think Gao has received unfair abuse from some Saints fans, albeit because of the weird setup between him and Kat, she had the final say on who we were sold to, so not sure he could just sell to the first chancer to put in a bid. Main thing I credit Gao with is not getting involved and leaving it to those who know what they’re doing. That and not taking money out! It could have been far worse than Gao, but that said I’m glad that chapter is over.
Last time I looked at the accounts, that seemed to be our big success story of the last few years. But you can always improve.
Its good that if they're planning on building a network of clubs, we are the club in the most lucrative and prestigious league in the world.
Newcastle fans being weird and all over the announcement on Twitter - "he's not even got a third of the money Ashley has". They're so weird about Ashley. Claim he never spent any money on them, except he...y'know...did.
