Kondogbia please Never heard of this chap...where is that YouTube clip. We definitely need a defensive midfielder. We have been very fortunate since Corks return
hopefully we have some scouts in the Championship, the way most of our better players have taken to the premiership I´m sure we could find some good young players. Jordan Rhodes would not be cheap but he is a proven scorer and may want to move on if Blackburn get relegated again
If we're going to buy another striker then I'd hope we'd get someone better than lambert and rodriguez.
Was it yourself or someone else who mentioned that if Saints push on, we'll have to say goodbye to the players we've stuck by as Saints bring in more capable footballers..? Inevitably, one would think it must happen. Although if players like Cork and Schneiderlin, etc... can improve as much as Rickie has from League Two, it's by no means certain.
If we have a chance to bring in Nainggolan we have to take it. I think I even mentioned something about him back when we were looking at Astori, so I would definitely be excited to see him play. At the same time (unlike Cortese), I would be pretty happy to hang out mid-table for a couple of years just because I like this squad so much and I also think we can build some infrastructure elsewhere if we don't spend on players. But I do understand that isn't realistic.
He's a very good player. Would certainly strengthen our midfield no end, and could play in Morgan, Cork or Davis' role.
Also after Granero perhaps? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfers-southampton-eye-qprs-esteban-1835944 Frankly he's not really impressed me this season.
Says in article that Granero is one of QPR's highest paid players...surely that hits the rumour on the head.
Difficult to imagine as cork rarely seems to make mistakes, although if a player brought everything cork does and scored a couple they would be a good addition. Could we play a defensive set up with 3 holding midfielders for resisting pressure? I guess that would push JRod out wide left though. Just a thought.
We play a pressing game, we don't invite pressure. We play on the front foot. Even at Old Trafford we played the same. If we sign Nainggolan the only place he could play would be CAM at the moment. Or he'd be cover for CDM. Pochettino isn't just playing 4-2-3-1 to suit the team, it's actually the formation and style he likes. It's how Espanyol played under him. Rodriguez is playing left side in 4-2-3-1 already.
I know Rodriguez plays left, but when we got him adkins stuck him out on the wing rather than playing as a left striker who drifts from midfield to being main attacking player. If we were to play 3 defensive midfielders our attacking mids would need to play wide as to not loose width. Its a silly idea, although could be used late on in a game if we were winning, needing to hold a lead and the players getting too tired to press.
with the sheer amount of work they do, it makes sense to sub one of the players, Cork used to misplace alot of pases in the last 15 minutes which was probably down to tiredness
He's barely played for Belgium, like 5 caps max and he's 24. Witsel, Fellaini, Simons and Dembele play over Nainggolan. Heard he's a good hardworking midfielder with good potential though!
