Love me some early Roxy Music when they sounded like they were from the future and the past at the same time. Hugely influential, along with Bowie, on Punk /New Wave, New Romantics and electronic music...
Ahh The Gaumont! Remember seeing Wishbone Ash and Blue Oyster Cult there in the early 80s and then Neil Finn (late 90s, by then it was the Mayflower). Remember also (don't tell anyone this!) dropping into the Tom Tackle next door one night with a work mate straight after work, sinking a significant number of pints and buying tickets on the door for Nick Kershaw (I know, I know but we were drunk). We thought it was a good idea at the time but not surprisingly can't remember too much about the concert.
Wishbone Ash early 80s was my first big gig I’ve got some old tickets I’m going to have a look for them. I believe some of them may have cost shillings not pounds
Nah, it was the Wind and Wuthering tour in '77. Collins was on form but I wish i'd seen Gabriel fronting, alas too young...
I remember the gig being REALLY loud. PA systems weren’t as sophisticated in those days. My ears are still ringing now!
