I saw Fanny play support to Jethro Tull at the Gaumont in the 70s, they were indeed a fine band. So much so that Ian Anderson expressed (good humoured) concern about Tull having to follow them.
Here's my favourite Halloween (well pumpkin) based song. Originally by XTC it was covered by Crash Test Dummies. The XTC video is out there on youtube but is a bit darker. Talking of XTC maybe in these very difficult times we should all appeal to our favourite imaginary friend.

Have a real soft spot for this one, even though it's hugely uncool to admit. The guitar work in it is beautiful.
I know, I used to tell the old joke about Chris Rea and Dire Straits collaborating and calling themselves Dire Rea, but the truth is that I absolutely love three songs that Dire Straits recorded, This one, Romeo and Juliet and Going Home-Wild Theme- from "Local Hero ".
Thing with Brothers In Arms (and a lot of Knopfler's playing) is that, like Gilmour, there's not a note wasted on the guitar. It's incredibly restrained, the tone is gorgeous, and particularly on that track, it just has a sense of brooding menace. It's genius really.
Bought the Big World vinyl just last week, as always with JJ some decent tunes. Also the 4th LP side is useful for calibrating anti skate bias force, just a blank groove
