It was a shame that Eddie Lang died in 1933 as you wonder where his music would have ended up. Joe Venuti's career was affected by alchohol abuse and his star waned somewhat yet i have always felt that Lang would have become even more relevant as jazz gained in sophistication in the 30s and 40s. I believe that Lang died at the age of 30 following a botched operation on his tonsils . The records with Venuti are classics which somewhat define that era whilst also still having harmonic ideas which are quite modern. There is also a set of duos he made with Lonnie Johnson which, if anything, are even better.
Greek composer Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, aka Vangelis, has died at the age of 79. Probably his best known number: RIP

He doesn’t socialise much, but we did persuade him to speak at a public enquiry into a massive development which his property would have overlooked. He’s a nice bloke.
This one came up today on 70sHeardle. Don’t play, whatever you do, your life will be in ruins. Anyway, it reminded me what a banging tune this is, and that Paul Rodgers almost certainly has the best voice in rock, ever.
This is brilliant from a Clash bootleg recording... God bless Joe and Ranking Roger, taken too soon...R.I.P..
