RIP Sarah Harding. So young an age, but you entertained millions. Her vocals in this are what make the song.
Excellent! Glad it was good. I went to see the miserable git in Paris about 6-7 years ago. Queued for ages to get tickets, paid a fair amount, was so excited as I’ve loved his music since early 70s ……. Then he spent most of the gig with his back to the audience, played about an hour, then, when he did Brown Eyed Girl, he sang half heartedly before walking off. The band played on for about 5 minutes - clearly unsure what was going on - then stopped and the house lights came up. The crowd (me included) stood and booed for about 10 minutes - I’ll never go and see him again. Which is a shame - I’d always thought him a professional ….
Oh definitely. The Independent ran a piece in June saying that he is a toxic menace and that Glastonbury shouldn’t be giving the likes of him a stage. This is for the general anti-science, conspiracy-theory nonsense he has been spouting about Covid and the vaccine. I sympathise with that view, but as he rarely says anything at all when on stage I can, as you suggest, separate that side of him while enjoying the sight and sound of a master at work. The most he said last night was explaining that they hadn’t played Madame George for ages, so they hoped it wouldn’t be too bad. It was, in fact, superb. To answer Dave’s point about him leaving the stage at the end: he did a similar thing last night but before he left he urged the audience to “give a big hand for the band” and left them to build Gloria to a rip-roaring finish for 5 minutes or so. As the fireworks started immediately afterwards, the crowd went straight from cheering the band to oohs and ahs, and there was no sense of desertion at all. I think everyone felt like me, that he was giving a great bunch of musicians a chance to have a bit of limelight for themselves.
This one is for Miss Raducanu, may your incredible journey continue with possibly some silverware at the end of the week...
I don't know how i've never heard this before but it's a George Harrison song that he wrote in India but never made The White Album (although it sounds a lot like Savoy Truffle). Consequently George gave the song to Jackie Lomax and he and Eric Clapton played on it and it was released as the debut single for Apple Records. Here are both The Beatles and Lomax versions....
RIP Michael Chapman. Heard this album many times after a late night party …… wonderful stuff. Thanks for the wonderful music
He made this look too easy. Sadly missed the opportunity to see him supporting Thurston Moore on a solo tour a few years ago.
This is an interesting little documentary about the story of a pioneering all girl guitar band from the 60s, The Liverbirds...
I hear word that you should listen to Chris Hawkins' daytime show on 6Music on the 7th October. No idea why...
I was checking ebay for a gift to give my Saints mad nephew and came across this little curio... It's a single that King Kev released on his return to Blighty after signing for Saints and I thought i'd try and find it on YouTube It certainly wouldn't win any Brit or Grammy awards but it is a part of our club's history so I thought i'd share it!...
