He is a Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Composer and Record Producer. He is the Lead Singer and Primary Songwriter of Blur and Co-Founder, Vocalist, Instrumentalist, and Principal Songwriter of the virtual band Gorillaz. Albarn is also part of two Supergroups, one usually known as The Good, the Bad & the Queen, although it is stated that they are officially unnamed, and another named Rocket Juice & the Moon. Only one notable birthday today, but it's a good 'un. One of my music heroes, The King of Power Pop, Nick "Basher" Lowe turns 69 having been born in Walton-on-Thames in 1949. He made his name playing Bass, Singing and Songwriting for top Pub Rock act, Brinsley Schwarz. He later formed New Wave/Power Pop band Rockpile with Dave Edmunds, Billy Bremner and Terry Williams and also played Bass, Sang and wrote Songs, they were noted as a superb live band. After leaving Rockpile he has continued as a Solo artist. Although primarily a Bassist, he also plays Guitar, Keyboards and Harmonica and is a notable Record Producer. Here's where it all started in the mid 70s...
