    Happy 50th Birthday to one of the most prominant and creative figures in British music in the past 30 years, Damon Albarn who was born in Whitechapel on this day in 1968.
    He is a Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Composer and Record Producer. He is the Lead Singer and Primary Songwriter of Blur and Co-Founder, Vocalist, Instrumentalist, and Principal Songwriter of the virtual band Gorillaz. Albarn is also part of two Supergroups, one usually known as The Good, the Bad & the Queen, although it is stated that they are officially unnamed, and another named Rocket Juice & the Moon.

    Singer/Songwriter and Musician of highly influential Experimental Punk band, Swell Maps, Kevin Godfrey, AKA Epic Soundtracks was born on this day in Croydon in 1959...



    He died in his sleep in 1997 aged just 38.

    "The Queen of Funk", Singer/Songwriter Chaka Khan turns 65 today having been born in Chicago in 1953, she made her name as the focal point of Funk band Rufus before later going solo...

    Only one notable birthday today, but it's a good 'un.
    One of my music heroes, The King of Power Pop, Nick "Basher" Lowe turns 69 having been born in Walton-on-Thames in 1949.
    He made his name playing Bass, Singing and Songwriting for top Pub Rock act, Brinsley Schwarz. He later formed New Wave/Power Pop band Rockpile with Dave Edmunds, Billy Bremner and Terry Williams and also played Bass, Sang and wrote Songs, they were noted as a superb live band. After leaving Rockpile he has continued as a Solo artist.
    Although primarily a Bassist, he also plays Guitar, Keyboards and Harmonica and is a notable Record Producer.

    Here's where it all started in the mid 70s...

    Two Legendary Singer/Songwriter, Pianists share a birthday today, firstly Sir Elton John turns 71 today having been born on this day in Pinner in 1947. He has also composed musical scores.

    This was one of the very first singles that I possessed....
