Remember playing air guitar to this in early 1983 at the Beaulieu Rd Hotel ! Oh and Chance by BC is Stuart Adamson at his best, much missed. His previous crew, Skids, also touched the hem of glory with 'Women in Winter'.
Originally posted this in the wrong thread. Completely random post: July Talk is playing the O2 Guildhall in Southampton in November. I've seen them live a couple times, in a small venue and a larger open-air stage, and they're a hell of a show if you like eclectic rock-y things. Crowd at the last show I went to was loud enough that I had hearing loss for weeks, so you'd have that to look forward to. Also, there might be Youtube video of me trying desperately to stop the crowd from surfing the female singer head-first into a load-bearing post, so there's that.
Yes . I never knew he had a problem. The group sort of vanished , next thing I knew , he had taken his own life
Sorry pepys. Pure indulgence here. Used to play this late at night during my teenage years after coming back home. I'd always stick my closed back headphones on but just occasionally I'd forget to turn off the speakers [I had an amp which didn't auto-switch the speakers off when you plugged headphones in] and while I was dreaming away to this I'd be pulled out of my head by banging on the bedroom door. A quick leap from the bed, a flick of the speaker switch and a muffled sorry usually solved the problem within seconds. And I was back in dreamland.
Former lead singer of California punk band Rancid, showing the depth of his musical knowledge and influences..
I know they're from Coventry, but these guys always make me think of Southampton. Something about coming of of age in a small town in Thatcher's Britain, which they captured really well...
Funny you say that, because I stood right behind Terry Hall and his girlfriend in the little pen at the corner of the Archers next to the West Stand when we beat Manure 3-0 circa 1983. I presume that he was supporting them and couldn't get a decent ticket!.... I love The Specials and the whole Two Tone thing and even possessed a pork pie hat!..
This is a local band in the punk/ska style of The Specials (I wonder who Howard is, Jones perhaps or maybe Way?)...
