Why are Saints fans getting so cocky?

It's early days yet and although I predict a long season for Spurs, I'd still happily bet we will easily finish above you this season.

We arent getting cocky just enjoying the ride. In our current form we have no reason to fear a trip to Spurs. Confidence is sky high. Bound to be a bump around the corner just hope its not on Sunday.

They have always been and always will be an arrogant bunch of scummers, mostly kids, who forget they were in Administration and in League 1 and nearly went out of business just like us a few short years ago, until some rich alleged gold grabbing person came in and saved them from extinction. Short memories indeed. <whistle>

Here is what you may not know about the Scummers owners (available on the internet). The Liebfraumilch family. A small German family construction company, suddenly start building large projects in East Europe in 1938, Hands serves in a specialist engineering regiment during WWII. Suddenly, in post war occupied Germany, he has the money to move to Switzerland and start up a major engineeering concern.

    Some wonder how that occurred?<whistle>

I've only known a couple of Southampton fans, but they were both like that. Maybe I've just had bad luck, though.

You have still not answered the question Lamby? Is it required to spell it out a bit more plainly, as to where the money allegedly came from indirectly to purchase your club?<whistle>

They had the same simmering confidence when they started last season well but a lot of people looked at their fixtures and expected it to not to last even until Christmas. It'll probably be considered arrogance on our part not to be worried in the long term but that's the way it goes 99 times out of 100. I've just checked the table from this time last year and they were above City and 4 points above United, that didn't stop both teams finishing above them, as you'd have expected at the start of the season. It's a great start for them and they have every right to be pleased with it but frankly I'm not too concerned where they finish in relation to us so long as we do well.

As for the upcoming games, neither is must win and drawing against Besiktas would leave us well in the mix for winning the group still. We've got 2 good tests at home in a row and I'd see it as a good opportunity to try and build some momentum by playing first team, or there abouts, in both games. There is definitely some pressure on the Southampton game as we're 4 league games without a win currently and haven't enjoyed the best start to the season but the whole Pochettino-Southampton sideshow is really of little interest to us. I'd take a win and a draw from the next two regardless of which came in which game but hopefully we can win both, a loss in either will sting a bit but that's football, things go wrong for everyone from time to time.

I'd imagine the cross section of types of people is pretty much the same across all clubs. Most fans will be ok, some will be dicks. Spurs are no different either.

SB I'm not going to get into a slanging match with you on the Spurs Board. Not sure a Pomjpey fan in anycase can start lecturing about money.

Here we go again, we have paid off all our debts 2 years early, and are now as of yesterday ,debt free and owned by the fans an average crowd of which is 17,000 who turn up at Fratton Park for League 2 matches. Scummers walked away from £15mn of debt to Aviva(then Norwich Union) when fatty bought the club. So dont lecture me ,I am talking about financial allegations during the war.

So why you are moralising Lamby, how sick are your lot? Why not come down when we are there?

Can we get back to the topic of our upcoming games. No offence but I don't think any of our board is interested in the financial details of either club.

No offence taken, did wonder if you guys though, would be interested, given the background of your club, in the way they and with whose money they were allegedly funded from millions acquired during the war...............<whistle>
