Would be utter madness if true.

Not if he’s going to the Bernabeu.

Yeah, but that'd be more of a case of him moving up rather than being under fire at Spurs. Pushing him out because they had a couple bad ends to games in CL and are a point out of the top four was be the height of overreaction.

Genuine question Chilco, do you really think this would be a good idea?

Lawrie is 82 now and has been out of a front-line job for nearly 20 years so as much as he is a club legend I'm not sure he'd have much more of an idea about a top level manager than Les appears to have :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I agree about his age being an issue, but the OP contained an assumption that the person selected would be miraculously restored to life and health, which presumably includes a brain refresh updating his football experience! In reality of course you are right, and we should let Lawrie rest on his considerable laurels.

The reason for my wishing to have someone like Lawrie in charge of football is because the club is in dire need of a top-down clearout. Poor Markus must be spinning in his grave if he can see what a shambles the club is in, at just about every level. At the moment, even if Pochettino did come back as manager, it would end in tears, as of course he wouldn’t be backed in the transfer market, and any decent players we did unearth would be straight on the Anfield conveyor belt.

He's not under fire at Spurs.

More a case of him taking aim at Spurs' chairman...
