Nathan Redmond? As a winger, can't help but feel we miss Puncheon a bit, just for that natural wide player...

 

Forster is no better then what we have IMO. You either get a top keeper to rival Boruc an Osvaldo, Lovren, Wanyama type signing or we don't worry. Forster is not the answer. I think if we do get a keeper it will be in the summer.

 

I agree that we miss Punch. Another one of him would be my ideal signing but it's hard to put my finger on who that would be. Redmond's only just joined Norwich and surely wouldn't move again. I imagine we'll keep trying to recruit from abroad as that tends to be better value. Anyone else knocking about in the SPL?

 

I don't think we miss Punch at all. In fact I would suggest that without Punch around Adam's game has improved and he has more freedom. Punch was good for the first half of last season but then once every opponent knew he would check back inside he became more and more anonymous in games to the point where MP reduced him to subs appearances.

Contributed lots to us in those early games but in all honesty he looked best when Saints were looking poor, once we picked up he went off.

I don't think anyone is suggesting however that we need an old fashioned winger. Another Rodriguez style player on the right and then Adam can be left free in the centre. That would do for me. I think we're in a tough position. Our first 11 are very good and we aren't a big enough draw to get quality backups so I can't see us making any significant signings until the summer. We may (or may not) try and loan a keeper though.

 

Have to agree and he's not set the world alight at Palace.

 

I think Punch would still be a pretty good option. However, he would sit warming the subs bench all season, and play 10-20 minute games when called upon. That didn't suit Jason, but if it had, he'd still be here making a difference.

On the contrary, I have suggested that many times. An old-fashioned winger is something we don't have in the squad and frankly it would be a useful option to have.

 

Could be perfect, but I don't know much about him as a person. I'm always suspicious about players who choose to go and play in Russia.

 

Leandro Damiao to sign for Santos. Still glad we chose Dani instead.

 

Especially given how crap Damiao has been this year.

 

Missing out signing for us must have been hard to take.

Any updates on Banega and the likelihood of that happening in January?

 

Don't believe anything until bad translations from Spanish/Italian papers are quoted.

I know I'm a bit of a nag on the subject of the fact that I don't see us as much of a buying club any more but I'll put my stake in the ground here. We won't buy a single player in the January window.

There, I've said it. I look forward to this being thrown back in my face in February.
