Exactly...gives us plenty of options to move forward if we wanted too. Unlike West Ham who have borrowed to reach the premier league.

    A Quick calculation of our ticket revenue would be about 30,000 x £30 a ticket x 19 games = 17.1m + 60m TV money = 77.1m

    Average wage of the squad say about 25k a week x 25 players x 52 = 32.5m

That gives 44.6m left. Round it down to 40m to cover other costs which would also be covered by Merchandise/Food & Drink/Corporate and £40m a year is a nice little Transfer kitty.

I know thats simplified back of the *** packet numbers, but it won't be way out from there.

If Ms Liebherr didn't want to sell, but instead sit on the board and take a generous salary out of the club then we could probably survive as a stable premier league club for some years on that financial model, but of course it's not as easy as that.

That 60m isn't the totality of the money, either: you also have the positional merit payments and additional cash distributed on the basis of games selected for live domestic broadcast.

Peach is reporting that Will Britt has joined Bognor Regis on loan. That's probably not a good sign as far as his prospects of being a useful player for us are concerned.

Indeed, £60m is a minimum. The champions will get around £100m.

Its sport and it doesn't tread water. players are not really very good investments for the future and in general depreciate over the term of their contract. At the moment we are virtually guaranteed premier league status next year barring an incredible meltdown. No-one in the league is guaranteed to be in the Premier League the season after that so at the moment we are worth good money. For KL to look at holding on to us for a few years is a gamble on us staying up for that period and that means investment just to tread water.

She could always employ Allardyce to 'just' keep us up I suppose. I know people above have speculated on costs versus income but I would bet that costs are way more than many suspect even with the TV money.

Look at us at the moment. If it weren't for the good start we had we would be worried about relegation. We were actually quite lucky injury wise through preseason coming in to this season. That is with the investment we have had. It would only take a few injuries running into the start of next season to plunge us into relegation worries again and seriously devalue the asset.

Also for our value to increase we need to improve our position and not tread water. For us to improve will take money. If the owner is buying more players with 'said surplus' from the club's revenue then she is still basically putting her money into the club because she could have withdrawn that money herself.

So in essence I am saying that our value will only rise IF we improve our position and that will mean using all surplus (if there actually is any) to improve contracts if we want to keep hold of what we have got as well as spending heavily year on year on players that are high wages in order to improve our position in the league.

Even then that outlay is not guaranteed to improve position..........

.........hence why I say if I was looking to sell I would prefer to do it now rather than gamble on the value rising when it could all go so wrong. Football can be unfair a lot of the time.

That may well be her intention. And yes, the less money that is taken out, the better our long term prospects (and if you're really optimistic, the more money can be safely taken out later, if we are in the champions league on a regular basis).

Keep our key players & buy three more strong signings in the summer and i'd say we will be in the hunt for top 8 again and that's without any extra money.

A friend of mine is a Bognor fan and does the match reports for them, so I shall be keeping contact with him to see what he thinks of Britt. I seem to remember they had that foreign youth keeper Pernecky (or something like that) who came through our academy a number of years ago. He rated him quite highly at the time if I remember correctly, I wonder what's happened to him since.

Well I'll have you know that there have been some pretty decent players that have graced Nyewood Lane, Bognor Regis and when they were in a higher league than they are now :)

The Mirror says we have knocked back an approach for Dani Osvaldo.

It also reports that Nicola Cortese was in the process of selling Rickie Lambert to West Ham, but Rickie wanted to remain at Saints.

    Anyone in particular?? ;)

I actually like the idea of loans to lower league clubs for youth players, it's great experience that you can't get in U18 games, so good luck to the lad.

Ready made replacement for the disappointment at Spurs. Watch him score 15 goals in a square hole.

A few stories saying we have put a £30m tag on his head. If someone came in with that sort of offer I would b very tempted to sell. Would fund a whole transfer window.

Manchester United are now into 6/4 from 3/1 to sign Southampton captain Adam Lallana -> http://bit.ly/SkyTransfers #MUFC #SaintsFC

Papers seems to think we won't have a team of 11 left by the game against Arsenal on the 28th.

No-one believes this one I'm assuming...
