you are probably right, but after reading PTFs number, I quickly added up. 5 players on 50k/week is 13m a year, leaving 47m on the transfer fees for those 5 players, which would be 9.4m each or connotations of that number. What that tells me is that the number is a sensible number to cover 5 big salaries and 5 big transfer fees.

Look, that was so unsubstantiated that it scared no one. What you need is something like Paris St Germain, Monaco or Borussia Dortmund. Slightly left field stuff. Maybe even AC Milan..! :)

That'd be Beefy. Think he's changed his mind since then though. Maybe he can update us!

I actually think there's a chance KL will try and sanction a decent buy for us in this window as part of the "win over the doubters" offensive.

Yeah, well I thought the resignation of Nicola would probably end that hunt. But who knows.. We have more than one member in our recruitment.

No. Never going to happen. River Plate is in South America. The players who want to have anything to do with South America are South Americans. They either want to leave there to play elsewhere or return there in the twilight of their careers.

So not even Ramirez qualifies. Now if he had said Guly..? Hmm..! <whistle>

I wasn't talking just about the signings but the whole squad/staff at the club. Wouldn't surprise me if 25 players between them earn at least half of the TV money, then you have manager, all the back room staff etc. PTF is right in that we have other revenue streams but the TV deal is the main one for any club of our size. And, as I mentioned, if we want to make the next step up, then spending roughly 10 mil a window is probably not going to cut it, unless we can regularly find top players cheaply.

A source close to the club reckons Guly has been in talks with Italian Serie B side A.C. Cesena

As I say, we can afford to spend a lot more than £10m without any outside investment.

    Makes sense.

    Fair enough. Didn't realise.

A quick check on Wikipedia confirms that you are correct!

Or, it's an easy one for a journalist to make up...

If he's going to leave I think it's more likely he'd be headed back to Brazil.

I'd actually like to see Guly in Brazil. There'd be a good chance we could see him at his best again.

The latest accounts the club has revealed (half-term accounts for the 12/13 season) show a profit of £900k for the first half of the season (our first in the premier league), even after spending £30m+ on transfers. That implies we could spend £60m and still break even, and the TV money is considerably higher now.
